While the many Soulsborne games feature some great magic,Elden Ringarguably blows them all away. There are some classics like Adula’s Moonblade that let you swing a massive magical claymore with ease, but then you’re able to cast the simple yet imposing Ancient Death Rancor.
The fact that you can execute the shocking Explosive Ghostflame or launch the Hyper-Beam-like spell Comet Azur should be proof enough of flashy spells.Each spell has Elden Ring’s brand of flash, making each one instantly memorable.
8Divinity: Original Sin 2
While it may not seem likeDivinity: Original Sin 2would be filled with elaborate spells at first, a playthrough of the game should let you know otherwise. You can gain access to all kinds of impressive magics that decimate your foes.
There are a variety of schools of magic, though being pyrokinetic is always a flashy option. Regardless of what you end up using, you’ll have access to spells that will surprise you with just how elaborate they can be despite the seeming limitation that would be conferred by the nature of the game’s style.
7Diablo 4
Diablo is yet another series of games that those on the outside might think would be lacking in the flashy spell department, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. You once again have a few different options, though some stand out above the others in terms of overall flash.
It actually could be argued that the usually flashy lightning-based spells are the least interesting of the bunch. The fire and frost magic that you can access inDiablo 4will have you enjoying using one of the trickier classes in the game in no time.

5Yakuza: Like A Dragon
While the “spells” (job and character skills) inYakuza: Like A Dragonaren’t technically magic, they do act in the same way, so they deserve a mention. That’s doubly true because they have some of the flashiest animations around.
The realistic take on how spells would work in the real world often takes place in massive cutscenes that see the characters dishing out heavy damage to foes. You can fire a space laser, summon strange friends to help fight, or even have Nanba blow foes away with various fire attacks.
4Skyrim
While some people may think that many ofSkyrim’sspells aren’t incredibly flashy, you have to remember that the manyDragon Shouts seen throughout the game are in fact magic. That’s without mentioning that many of the normal spells in the game are quite fun to see.
Simply summoning a weapon to use in combat is always a fantastic way to see a spell pulled off. Then there are the many attacks that create massive explosions or elaborate effects. Again, the many shouts that have a whole host of effects also serve as one of the most unique types of fantasy magic.
3Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Another fun pick that mixes RPG elements with elements of strategy and social simulation,Fire Emblem: Three Houseshas a ton of great spells. There is a wide variety of magical attacks, all of which seem to get a little extra oomph whenever a character is landing a critical hit.
A lot of the love for attack animations has to go to the dark magic in the game, thanks to spells like Luna, Banshee, and Hades, but spells like Abraxas, Bolganone, and Meteor all deserve some love as well. A powerful spell-caster comes across as even more powerful thanks to the great animations in battle.
2Chrono Trigger
Although magic is referred to as techs inChrono Trigger, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some seriously flashy spells. The base techs aren’t much, but once you begin unlocking the triple techs, things get much more interesting.
Delta Force, Fire Zone, Twister, Dark Eternal, and Omega Flare are all great examples of massive spells that look as if they’re going to instantly destroy any enemy unlucky enough to find themselves in your way. The gamemay originally be from the SNES, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have plenty of flashy spells.
1World Of Warcraft
While it may not be the first game that comes to mind for most players, the spells inWorld Of Warcraftare fantastic. The types of spells you use will come down to how you’ve built your character, but you do have the potential to access all kinds of flashy spells.
Even simple barrier spells look incredible, but so do other spells like Summon Abyssal. There is a lot to love the more you’re willing to dig into the game, and thanks to the varied animations and styles, you might find yourself loving certain spells that others don’t mesh with.
