Gacha games likeHonkai: Star Railare known for having multiple events in each update while they slowly continue the main story. Aetherium Wars is one such event, and it was released alongside the Version 1.4 update that also brought Jingliu, Guinaifen, and Topaz & Numby as playable characters.
This event follows a unique formula where you get to use various enemies in the overworld as Aether Spirits and fight against other Spirits. However, you have to go through quite a few domains to get all the Aether Spirits and get to the Final Showdown.
How To Unlock Aetherium Wars
Ever since its launch, Honkai: Star Rail has brought the main story of Herta Space Station, Jarilo-VI, and The Xianzhou Luofu to an end. To unlock the Aetherium Wars event, you first have tofinish the story to this point to unlock the Future Market Trailblaze Continuancemission. This will take you back to Jarilo-VI.
Unfortunately, the event came alongside the release of the game on PlayStation 5.
This means that the new players willhave to play the game quite a lotto unlock this event in time.
An event gated by the main quest would usually have a Quick Start button that allows you to skip the eligibility criteria. However, this wasn’t possible for Aetherium Wars since ittakes you to different parts of the world that only unlock with the main story. Once you finish the Future Market quest, you’ll get the quest for Aetherium Wars.
Keep in mind that this event is also quite quest-heavy andtakes about nine to ten hours to finish if you don’t skip the dialogue. It’s filled with various puzzles as well, so it’s recommended to start it a few days before it’s over.
Aetherium Wars will be added to the Conventional Memoir once it’s over,which means you’re able to play it at any point.
Although, you won’t be able to get the limited-time rewards,which are the majority of rewards here.
How Aether Spirits Work
After playing Aetherium Wars for a little while, you’ll realize that thecharacters that you’ve built on your account are of no use here. In this event, you use Aether Spirits in the turn-based combat instead. Moreover,the vulnerability system is also a little differentcompared to the normal battle in Honkai: Star Rail.
Once you unlock the Aether Spirits, you have touse Aether Spirit Upgrade Data to level them up(maximum level six). This can be acquired by defeating various NPCs during your domain run and taking part in the Hyperlink Matches. The latter unlocks after you get the Mark from a certain domain.
You’ll slowly get enough Upgrade Data to level up all your Spirits,but it’s quite a sought-after resource at the start.
It’s recommended to think about the characters you’re upgrading and only put yourresources in the ones you’re going to be using a lot.
After getting the Aether Spirits, you’re able to make up tosix team compositions with them where each team can have up to four Spirits. In the end, you’ll have to battle five formidable enemies on the main stage before finding out who the Elite Player is.
