Mariois having pretty great year so far, with a successful movie under his belt and two big video games on the horizon. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first of the plumber’s big adventures to come charging out the gates, and Nintendo hasa standalone Direct taking place tomorrowwhich will give us a better look at the game in all its glory. However, it also seems that Nintendo may have another announcement to make, as a Mario-themed Switch OLED console may have leaked ahead of the show.

First reported byVGC, a new Nintendo Switch OLED model called the “Mario Red Edition” has been revealed byreputable insider billbil-kun, who you may recognise as the person who has been leaking PlayStation Plus titles online well before they hit the service for years. According to them, this Mario Red Edition OLED Switch will have two red Joy-Cons as well as a red dock, though there won’t be any other Mario features or branding.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date for the console just yet, but billbil-kun states in their report that “it is certain that it will be released before October”. That makes sense considering Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches on October 20 later this year, and Nintendo will undoubtedly want to push a new Mario-themed console right before the next big title. It’s pretty likely we’ll get an announcement during the Direct tomorrow, similar to how the Zelda-themed Switch OLED was announced during a Tears of the Kingdom trailer.

As for what else will be revealed during the show, it seems pretty nailed on that we’ll get a decent gameplay demonstration, since all we’ve seen so far is short clips stitched together. The last trailer revealed a couple of new additions to the series, includingDaisy’s first appearance in a mainline title, as well as Mario’s ability to turn into an elephant.

We also havethe Super Mario RPG remake to look forward tothat’s launching later this year, though we’ll probably have to wait until Nintendo is done selling us Super Mario Bros. Wonder before we see any more of that. We do know it’s launching on November 17 later this year though, so it’s not exactly like we’ll have to wait long before we get our hands on it.
