Sometimes you get tired of hanging around Maui all day and would rather spend some time with nature and animals. Luckily, inDisney Dreamlight Valley, you may befriend all the little critters running around the valley. Once you befriend a critter and gain its trust, it will be available as a companion to follow you wherever you go.
You can even build them a pet house. If that all sounds like the perfect way to spend you’re time, you’re in luck. The only tricky part of getting the perfect critter companion is knowing what time these animals come out to play.

How To Get Pet Companions In Disney Dreamlight Valley
There are different animals native to each biome in the valley. Each one will come with different color variants. Thesecolor variants will only show up on specific days at specific times.
All critters show up on Sunday between 12AM and 12PM except the very rare ones.
If you are looking for the pet of your Disney dreams,you need to know where they areand when they will appear.
You can feed animals multiple times per day, butonly the first feeding will count towards collecting it as a companion. After feeding them once, you mustwait another dayto feed the same type of critter again for it to count.
After repeating this feeding throughout the week, you should eventually find the critterin your Wardrobe under Companions.
All Animal Companions In Dreamlight Valley
There are a variety of critters for you to find in Dreamlight Valley, aseach biome offers a unique furry (or scaly, or feathered) friendfor you to make. Below are all the Dreamlight Valley critters you may find in the base game.
Where To Find Squirrel Companions
Squirrelsare the first critters you will find in the game. They can only befound in the Plaza and have five different variants. They do not require any tricks or games to approach; they will go out of their way to approach you first.
Squirrels will eat any type of fruit. Peanuts are their favorite type, increasing your ability to have it as a pet.

Where To Find Rabbit Companions
Rabbitcompanions can be found in thePeaceful Meadowandcome in five variants. They are one of the harder animals to catch at first because they run away from you. Once you learn how to play a rabbit’s game, it becomes quite easy.
While a rabbit’s favorite food item is a carrot,they will accept any vegetable or raw, leafy food.
To catch a rabbit, you must play chasewith it until it gives in. You will know you are in a chase when the rabbitruns away from youand thenturns around andhops while looking at you.
When the rabbit hops, go after it. Wait for it to run away and hop again until it stops hopping.

Where To Find Raccoon Companions
Raccoons are the hardest animal to befriendbecause they run away relentlessly. They can befound within the Forest of Valor biomeand come infive different variants.
Though blueberries are raccoons' favorite food,you’re able to feed them any type of berrysuch as Gooseberry or Raspberry.
To get close to them, you have toplay a game of “red light, green light,“in which you mustwalk up to them until they stand up.
Once they are standing, you mustcease all movement. When they sit back down, approach slowly. Rinse and repeat until you are close enough to feed them.

Where To Find Turtle Companions
Turtlesare found on both ends ofDazzle Beachand come in five different variants. While they are passive in nature because they do not run away, they still hide from you.
Though seaweed is a turtle’s favorite treat in Disney Dreamlight Valley,they will accept any type of seafood.
To feed a turtle, you must walk up to it andwait for it to come out of its shell.
Where To Find Crocodile Companions
Crocodilesare yet another Disney Dreamlight Valley animal that willrun away from you when you approach them. They can befound in the Glade of Trustand come insix different variants.
Though they favor Lobster, these scaley creatures will acceptany fish that is native to the Glade of Trust.
To feed a crocodile, you mustplay a game of “red light, green light"with it. The approach is similar to approaching a raccoon.
You will know a crocodile sees you becauseit will prop its head up and look side to side.
Once the crocodilelowers its head, you can slowly walk towards it. When they raise their head and look side to side again, you must cease all movement.
Crocodiles will repeat this process at a faster rate than raccoons, so it may take longer to inch forward. Once you are close enough to interact with it, you may feed it.

Where To Find Sunbird Companions
Thankfully,Sunbirdsare one of the easier animals to make your pet. They can befound in Sunlit Plateau. All you have to do is walk up to them and interact with them.
As long as you feed Sunbirdsany type of flower, they will be happy. Flowers are the basic meal they need, but some companions will have highly favored food types as well.
Feeding a Sunbird a flower that matches the color of its featherswill increase your chances of acquiring it as a pet.

Where To Find Raven Companions
Ravensare probably one of the last animals you will find. They live in theForgotten Lands, above Sunlit Plateau. Much like Sunlit Plateau sunbirds, ravens can be approached with ease.
Though it is easy to get the attention of a raven, they have expensive taste buds and only want the best. You will have tocraft many five-star mealsto please these guys.Ravens will also accept any four or three-star meal.
To approach a raven you mustwait for it to stop circling. When you approach one, they will circle your head. Wait until they stop, and you will be able to interact with them.

Where To Find Fox Companions
Foxesare found inFrosted Heights, attached to the Forest of Valor biome. There arefive variantsof foxes who seem eager to play with you.
These potential companionswill eat any fish that is native to Frosted Heights,though the White Sturgeon is their favorite.
To feed a fox, you mustchase them around similar to rabbitsin thePeaceful Meadow.
They will run away from you and wait for you to catch them again. Do this multiple times until they stop running away, allowing you to get close and interact.

All Eternity Isle Pet Companions

Where To Find Monkey Companions
The monkeys around Eternity Islelove to play tag, and they alsoadore desserts–especially ones with bananain them. Try chasing them around and giving them abanana split or banana ice creamto befriend them!

Where To Find Capybara Companions
The capybaras love the Wild Tangle, and they’re quite friendly. You can approach them immediately and feed them delicious veggies, spices, and grains. They also like seed-grown fruits!
Try giving them bamboo shoots from the Wild Tangle or growing some fresh cabbage for them to munch on.

Cobras slither through the sands of the Glittering Dunes. They’re quite shy, so you’ll have to approach cautiously when their guard is down. When you get close, make sure to have some eggs, dairy, or oil on hand.
