Like many other games in the soulslike genre,Lords Of The Fallenoffers its own unique challenge. It introduces two parallel worlds: the living Axiom and the dead Umbral. This makes the game twice as challenging because most secrets and progression are locked behind Umbral. That’s why it’s important to develop a strong character to tackle these challenges.

To achieve this, you have variousstatsto upgrade your character, and each of them functions differently. Understanding how each stat works is the key to creating a character build that not only matches your playstyle but also helps you overcome the game’s challenges.

Health

Health, or HP, determines how many hits or damage you’re able to withstand before you die, but in this game, you get a second chance. When you die for the first time in the living Axiom, you’ll enter Umbralautomatically, which essentially grants youa second opportunity. If you die in Umbral, you’ll be teleported back to the last Vestige where you rested.

You can keep track of your health with thered bar in the top left corner.

Stamina

Stamina is essential for almost every action your character takes, whether it’ssprinting, dodging, attacking, or casting spells. If your Stamina runs out, you won’t be able to perform any of these actions.

Weight

Weight is responsible for determining the total amount of weight your character can carry. However, it’s important to keep in mind that ahigh Encumbrance level can impact your character’s overall movement.

Defensive Stats

It’s important to note that leveling up any of the main stats contributes to a slight boost in the defensive stats.

The game featuresfour different types of damageand the table below explains them.

Physical isnon-elemental damageand is lessened when you possess a higher defense against it. Since this is the most prevalent type of damage in the game, it’s wise to equip gear with strong physical defense.

When you level up yourStrength stat, it provides the most increase to Physical Defense.

Fire

Fire is one of the elemental damages inflicted by specific enemiesusing fire weapons or Inferno spells, and there are also certain areas in the game with fire hazards if you get too close.

Another method to enhance your defense against these types of damage is byusing a shield. When you check the shield’s description, you can see thepercentages of block protectionit provides for each type of damage.

Resistances
