The Phantom Thieves have always been flashy, andPersona 5 Tacticakeeps the tradition going by introducing Voltage skills. These special skills will play a brief cutscene showing the party member and their Persona before they unleash a powerful attack.

In addition to being powerful attacks that let you save on SP, Voltage skills can help your strategy by allowing you to knock enemies out of cover, manuever them, give yourself an extra turn, and more. The right skill at the right time can open you up to a whole slew of strategic options.

What Is Voltage?

Whenever you attack an enemy, a star-shaped meter in the bottom right of the screen starts to fill up. When it does, one of your units can use a special, powerful skill. This is denoted by a star next to the name when you open the Persona menu.

The meter is shared between all your party members andcarries over between story missions, but not quests. You canuse GP to make Voltage skills strongerin the Skills menu.

Futaba does not have a Voltage skill, but her Hidden Book of Witchcraft skill line has a chance to increase the rate at which the meter fills, and the Persona skill Brightening Star also makes the meter fill faster.

Erina’s Voltage Skill, Flag Of Freedom

Erina’s skill allows her to place down a flag which knocks enemies out of cover and heals allies. It’s best for cramped maps and if Erina’s going first, your party members can knock enemies down and set up an All-Out Attack.

At its second level, allies within Flag of Freedom’s effects will also be considered under cover.

Joker and Arsene from Persona 5 Tactica

Joker’s Voltage Skill, Phantom Judge

Joker will summon Arsene to down all enemies in range, even if they’re in cover. Unfortunately, this means other people can’t down them for an All-Out Attack, but if someone has a One More or you simply want to do damage to a lot of enemies under cover, it’s helpful.

By upgrading this skill, you may increase its range and damage.

Morgana’s Voltage Skill, Winds Of Time

Morgana’s skill sweeps away all enemies in range, with the range and power increasing as you upgrade the skill.

As with Joker’s, this will knock enemies out of cover, but it won’t down them. It’s also very helpful in maps where you’re being chased, as you can push several opponents back at once.

Ann Takamaki’s Voltage Skill, Femme Fatale

With Femme Fatale, Ann can summon a small ally to walk over to an enemy, exploding and dealing damage to it and nearby enemies.

Ann can also take another action after using this skill, letting her either get under cover or down an enemy.

This can be used very well in combination with Hypnosis and Vortex skills which causes enemies to be grouped together.

Upgrading it increases the power and range of the move.

Ryuji Sakamoto’s Voltage Skill, Brigantine Blitzkreig

Upgrading this increases its damage. This is very good for enemies who are all under cover, asthey tend to be in a straight line already.

Haru Okumura’s Voltage Skill, A Noble Lady’s Invitation

A Noble Lady’s Invitation hypnotizes enemies in a large range anddraws them in together. If you have Ryuji or someone else with a good area attack in your party, this can be usedto get spread out enemies together,so you may hit as many as possible.

By upgrading it, you’re able to increase the range and power.

Yusuke Kitagawa’s Voltage skill, Like A Phantom

Yusuke’s skill allows him tocreate two to three clones of himselfthat you can place anywhere in range. These do not attack or move, but any enemy that can attack them will (except for certain bosses).

If you use Like A Phantom while already having clones present, theolder clones will disappear.

By improving this skill, you may increase the number of clones and increase their health, so they can distract enemies for longer. If you leave them near cover, that will also help them survive longer, andyou can move Yusuke afterso don’t worry about leaving him exposed.

Makoto Niijima’s Voltage Skill, Full Throttle

Makoto’s skill allows her to ride Johanna to knock away enemies in a straight line. By upgrading it, you can increase the range and damage output of the move.

This will also cause Makoto to move forward in a straight line, so be aware if you leave her exposed.
