Less than two months left to go untilAssassin’s Creed Miragelaunches on October 5, and as promised, more of the game was shown atGamescom. A brand new trailer for Mirage premiered during the show, all of which was in Arabic with English subtitles as lead character Basim detailed his mission and more of what Mirage is all about.Ubisofthas confirmed players will have the option to play the entire game that way to make the experience feel more authentic.

Mirage’s latest trailer, which you can check out below, was the best example yet that the next game in the series will pull fromAssassin’s Creed’s back catalog. A much shorter, slightly more linear journey as Basim was shown performing actions that have been missing from the games for years. Most notably the footage showing the lead character using curtain boxes on roofs to sneak up on his enemies and perform assassinations, something that has been missing from the games for a long time. Not to mention Basim showing off a whole bunch of his parkour skills.

The gap betweenValhallaand Mirage has been the longest one in Assassin’s Creed history, so it might surprise fans of the series that Basim’s adventure will be a far shorter one than the most recent entries in the franchise. Ubisoft has already confirmedits story will take roughly 20 hours to play through. It also appears to be a lot more linear than other recent Assassin’s Creed games as its creators attempt to pay homage to some of the very first AC games.

Creating a shorter game as opposed to one that will take up 100 hours or more of your time may well be a blessing in disguise for a lot of people for a few reasons considering Mirage’s release date.Ubisoft actually moved it forward to October 5, likely an attempt to avoid clashing withMarvel’s Spider-Man 2and Super Mario Wonder which are still currently slated to be released on the same day, October 20.

Alan Wake 2was also coming around that same time untilRemedy pushed its release date to October 27, specifically citing that it wanted to give people more time to play all of the other great games coming in October.

Even though Assassin’s Creed will be a shorter game than usual, it’s not as if you have nothing to look forward to once you’re finished. Ubisoft has already revealed a handful of the projects coming next. Codename Red is an announced AC game set in feudal Japan, and Jade is a mobile game the studio has in the works, footage from which leaked recently. There’s also Codename Hexe still to come and then Assassin’s Creed Infinity which appears to be the umbrella under which all future AC games will be housed.
