Summary
Assassin’s Creed Mirageis an expansive game lined with stupendous skills, amazing abilities, and tantalizing tools. But, of course, your resources are going to be limited. Especially at the beginning of the game! So, then—what should you invest in first?
Which skill should you spend your first skill point on? What should your first tool be? Should you spend those Merchant Favor Tokens early? Well, friend, you’ll be happy to hear that we have some strong suggestions for starting your adventure off on the right foot. This list will outline some of the best early pickups and upgrades. That way you’re able to worry less about spending your dirham, and more about stabbing people with sharp things.

6Upgrade Your Hidden One Dagger
This is a bit of an assumption, as you can absolutely miss the Hidden One Dagger, as it requires exploring the desert north of Baghdad for treasure. However, you can easily have this dagger (and the schematics to upgrade it) within the first hour of the game, and for a weapon that is so easily acquired early, the Hidden One Dagger sure has aprettypotent ability. It will make Basim a poisonous menace!
If you kill a poisoned enemy with a normal attack while wielding this dagger, you will create a poison cloud. Pair this dagger with your poisonous Throwing Knife (which is an early upgrade for that tool itself), and you have an incredibly powerful weapon for getting yourself out of jams.

The Initiate Of Alamut Dagger isn’t a bad first choice either! So, if you don’t want to explore the desert, that is an option. Though, if we are choosing between the two, we’d go with the Hidden One Dagger every time.
5Upgrade The Initiate Of Alamut Sword
The Initiate of Alamut is the first sword you will get in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While you may think that probably means it is something that you shouldn’t invest too heavily in, you would be dead wrong. This is a great sword!
It isn’t the stats that we like about this sword—they’re fine, but we prefer a greater emphasis on damage. It is the huge damage buff it gives you for parrying an attack. If you aren’t in the know, Basim’s parry is overwhelmingly powerful. So, this weapon only serves to make the best ability even better. Not too shabby!

While we think the Initiate of Alamut is the best weapon to upgrade first, as you will see with our top pick, it isn’t how we would spend those resources first.
4Spend Your Merchant Favor Tokens On The Vendor Discount
You can do so many things with Merchant Favor Tokens! You can intermingle with groups of merchants, helping you escape guard and infiltrate enemy bases and you can use them to open up special chests that are rich with resources. Due to how useful they can be, youmaybe tempted to hold on to them. But we’re here to tell you to not do that.
Instead, you want to head directly to the first merchant you can find, and spend those Merchant Favor Tokens on the discount. For a single token you can get a ten-percent discount, two more tokens will give you a twenty-percent discount, and three more will take you all the way to a thirty-percent discount. That’s huge. And it applies to every single merchant, as well. So, don’t be timid when it comes to spending those tokens early!

3Spend Your First Skill Point On The Pathfinder Skill
There are three beginner skills: Kick Back, Auto-Collect, and Pathfinder. Kick Back sounds useful, but the majority of enemies you fight can be instantly killed after a parry, so pushing them away with a kick isn’t a great option. Auto-Collect is convenient, thoughlargelyunnecessary, as it is just a means for gathering resources from enemies automatically. The real star here is Pathfinder. With this ability, all the things you will be MOST interested in highlighting will be lit up by Enkidu. That is huge!
You will find that Basim will collect resources from a corpse instead of grabbing them to move them. So, the Auto-Collect can help you narrowly escape hairy situations, but it still doesn’t make it even close to as good a skill as Pathfinder.

This is especially true when it comes to keys, which are often one of your primary objectives in a mission. Being able to clearly mark which guard has the key before you even start a mission, is an incredible boon. There isn’t even a debate to be had here: your first skill point should be spent on Pathfinder!
2Unlock The Blowdart Tool First
Not long after completing your first assassination, you will have the opportunity to choose a tool to unlock. We’re not going to lie to you, all these tools are extremely useful. We’d go as far as to say that the Smoke Bomb is quite possibly the best tool in the game, but we don’t think is the first one you should unlock.
Instead, we strongly recommend you start by unlocking the Blowdart. Why start with the non-lethal tool? Well, some of the hardest-to-complete contract requests involve not killing anyone. Without any means for taking down enemies non-violently, that can be pretty rough, but with the Blowdart by your side, it instantly becomesmuchmore manageable.

1Upgrade Your Throwing Knife First
Once you get your first tool, the Throwing Knife, we strongly suggest you spend your resources upgrading it to the max level. Upgrading tools requires components, leather, and steel. These are all the same items you would use to upgrade your outfit, sword, or dagger. While holding off on upgrading the essentials may feel wrong, throwing knives are extremely powerfulin Mirage and at the max level they are overwhelmingly so.
If you focus on getting the Throwing Knife to level 3 early, your Throwing Knife can become Armor Piercing. This means that armored troops like the Captain or the Horn Bearer become FAR easier to deal with. Since those are some of the most obnoxious enemies in the game, we strongly encourage you to get those Throwing Knives upgraded fast!
