If you’ve played Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, you’re likely familiar with the Operation Metro Map. Some of the effective tactics from that map will help you conquer Redacted.
9Grenades Are Highly Effective
Due to the confined nature of Redacted, you’ll find explosives are necessary to be successful. Tight corners and bottlenecks are the worst places to stick your neck out. Instead, focus on throwing grenades down hallways to end hiding enemies.
This map is designed for face-to-face firefights where cover isn’t always available. Remember to use grenades down range before pushing, especially around a blind corner. You can also use the concussion grenades to disorient enemies and gain an advantage.
8Use The Environment
One of the most challenging areas to defend in Redacted is A1. There aren’t many great defensible positions, and teams can struggle to keep control. But, if you notice the tall tower-like pipes in the center of the room, climb them.
A space on top of each tower will allow you to attack from an area where you’re least expected. Enemies will be at a disadvantage with a lower position. You can jump across to the different pipes and keep the opposition guessing.
7Mackay Can Get To Unique Places
Webster Mackay is an assault specialistcharacter and is unlockable after reaching level 15. What makes Mackay so interesting is his grappling hook. He can use the grappling hook to traverse up to another floor or upper platform quickly.
Mackay can also navigate to certain ledges other characters can’t reach. You should experiment with this character and use the grappling hook to get some elevation. You would be surprised where Mackay can post up and ambush unaware infantry.
6Use The Perimeter Of Biomes
The most open areas of Redacted are in the two large domed rooms with vegetation and rocks. The structures in the middle of the space are most active, so use the rocky areas along the edge of the dome.
You can get the drop on enemies and conceal yourself in the foliage. You’ll also have a great position to cover some of the exits. Since these areas of the biomes aren’t as popular, you can score several kills.
5The Middle Map Section Is A Death Trap
The area between the biomes is the middle point of the map and one that will see a lot of action. Unfortunately, some places in this section will mean instant lights out. One of the locations is the center square area at the bottom of some shallow stairs.
This area makes spotting enemies difficult, as you’re able to’t see over the wall. It also leaves you vulnerable to flanking. The larger stairs away from the center are a much better choice. There is also a wall along the stairs that is perfect for peeking.
4Alternate Where You Peek
Once you get a great angle on the enemy, it’s tempting to continue using it. But, as you’ll discover, you can’t surprise your opponents from the same spot. Eventually, you’ll get a round between the eyes as the other team waits for your head to emerge.
There are usually several good angles you can fire from, and alternating between them is best. Continual movement makes you a more challenging target. This strategy is valuable in congested areas like the middle of Redacted.
3Conceal Your Movements With Smoke
You might find yourself pinned down, especially when trying to enter a biome in Redacted. If enemies have posted high on the rocks, you’ll need more than good marksmanship to succeed. You need to find a better vantage point.
One technique is to deploy smoke bombs and obscure your movement out of the entrance. Throw a few smoke grenades and run to a more defensible position. If the other team is at an elevated spot, you’re able to climb up the other side while they are unaware of your location.
2Utilize Areas That Are Less Traveled
Once you start playing Redacted, you’ll notice others use certain hallways and staircases less often. These areas can vary depending on your experience, but you should take note. Places like behind the grates in the middle section or the back staircase in D1 are good examples.
One of the advantages of these less popular routes is that the opposing team doesn’t expect anyone to be there. You can hold angles from these areas and surprise enemies running through to get back to the action.
1Play With Headphones
Redacted’s smaller areas use Battlefield 2042’s directional sound design. Listening carefully lets you pinpoint enemy positions and spoil their flanking ambush.A decent headset should helpyour ears locate the enemies before your eyes do.
The sound design in first-person shooters has advanced significantly since the early days. Remember, if you aren’t using sound as a tool, your opponents probably have an advantage over you. Once you get used to headphones, you’ll locate other players without thinking about it.
