Whether you’re new to the series or played the first installment and its expansion, many things can prove helpful to you before jumping into the void. While it strikes a similar cord as its predecessor, many new additions can make even the most seasoned player struggle.
Exploration Is Crucial
Being a Metroidvania Soulslike, Blasphemous 2heavily emphasizes exploration, rewarding you for checking out every nook and crannywith unique Prayer, weapon upgrades, and much more.
While youwon’t be able to access every area from the jump, obtainingnew Abilities will encourage you to backtrack and search previously gated-off paths, ultimately enabling you to get better items.

Exhausting every avenue you can at a time will also save you the troubleof filling out the map. It will also allow you to search for the many collectibles in the game that will go a long way to complete some of the game’s more involved and slightly frustrating side-quests.
Complete Side-Quests
Speaking ofside-quests,Blasphemous 2 has many of them, some of which are trackable via the Key Items tab.In contrast, theothers are untrackable in-game,such as finding all the Cobijadas, Rosary Beads, Hidden Symbols, etc.
The fortunate news is thatyou can track all the side-quests that aren’t directly trackable in-game via your Trophy/Achievement list,as they will keep track of your progress. Letting you know how many of each collectible are in the game and how many of them you’ve found.

Werecommend tackling any side quest you stumble upon as soon as possible,as the rewards are typically well worth the time and effort it takes to complete it. But please keep in mind that not every side quest can be completed as soon as you get it so be patient with them!
A few side-quests are missable, but their rewards can be purchased from the merchant in the Streets of Wake once you have passed the point of no return for the reward’s corresponding quest.

Be Mobile
Mobilityis a crucial aspect of Blasphemous 2, especially in the latter portions of your adventure after you’ve unlocked the ability todouble jump and dash through the air.Mostboss encounters will feature ‘bullet hell’ style situations, forcing you to utilize your movement to its full potential.
Not only that butusing your movement to get behind bigger enemies will enable you to land several uncontested strikeson them, allowing you topotentially stun and finish them off quickly.Youshould always try and stay mobile,as standing in place will almost always get you in trouble.

Build To Your Strengths
Buildsare an expected element of any Soulslike, and Blasphemous 2 is no exception, giving youmany systems and tools to work with to create a Built that is suited for nearly every situationand playstyle.
Despite only havingthree weaponsyou can cycle through, they make up for it withRosary Beads, Prayers, and Altar Pieces of Favors, all of whichoffer unique Buffs or Prayers that can give you a substantial boostwhen exploring the daunting and horrific world of Blasphemous 2.

In an area with lots ofFire-based enemies?Equip aRosary Bead that reduces the damage from Fire.Notice thatenemies are weak to Mystical Damage?Equip aMystical-based Quick Verse and Chant(Prayers) andfurther buff their damage outputwith anAltar Piece.
You cantinker with your Builds in various ways, all of which can be expanded when increasing the amount of Rosary Beads and Altar Pieces you’re able to equip at a time.Constantly changing your Build to adapt to the environment and enemies around you will go a long waytoward your success!

How To Fast Travel
Fast travelingis an expected feature of most Soulslikes and Metroidvanias, and while it is present in Blasphemous 2, youwill have to wait a bit before you fully unlock the abilityto do so.
What does this mean? Simply putyour only means of fast travel early on is via Teleporters, which onlyallows you to warp from one Teleporter to another.Roughlyevery zone will have one Teleporter, but not all will.

However, the ones that don’t are typically the smaller areas,or the Teleporter acts as a bridge between two neighboring zones. In the early goings of your journey, you must rely on these Teleporters to move efficiently from zone to zone, especially if you want to head back to the City.
Unlocking Prie-Dieu Fast Travel
Fortunately, you may also unlock the ability to travel between Prie-Dieuses(Bonfires/Checkpoints) if you take on the task offinding the many hidden Cobijadas.Finding justfive of them will unlock the ability to fast travel to any Prie-Dieu you’ve activated.
The unfortunate news here is that when we say the Cobijadas are hidden, we meanthey are hidden pretty well.Fortunately for you, however, there are sound queues for when you are in a room with one, sokeep an ear out for a haunting voiceto easily track them down!

Items Can Have Valuable Lore
It wouldn’t be a Soulslike title without having an immense amount ofLore buried within pages upon pages of item descriptions,so of course, it will be present here. And, much like the titles you are likely fond of, some of theLore can give you substantial hints on how to solve the next step of a side quest and more.
For example, viewing the Lore of the Chime of the Twisted One Chantwill mention asacred icon and symbol, tipping you off thatusing it near the Hidden Symbols will activate them, allowing you toseek out and collect all ten of them.
Whether it be aKey Item, Rosary Bead, Prayer, or Altar Piece, wecannot stress enough how crucial reading its Lore Entry can beto solving a side quest or discovering its ‘true use.’ Like most Soulslikes, the Lore in Blasphemous 2 is interesting but crucial for some gameplay elements!
What You Lose Upon Death
Lastly, let’s talk about thedeath penalty of Blasphemous 2,as it cannot be a Soulslike without some good ol' fashioned corpse runs. While you do get penalized for dying,it isn’t nearly as bad as you’d expectin a game as grueling and daunting as this one.
Dying in Blasphemous 2won’t have youlose any of your Tears of Atonement(Souls/Currency),nor will it penalize your maximum health. What it will do, however, isimpact your Fervor(MP).Each time you die, your Fervor Gauge will become shortened.
Restoring your Fervor Gaugeis as simple asmaking a successful corpserun and reclaiming it or visiting the Confessor near the City and paying for Atonement. The excellent part about this is thatsince you don’t lose any Tears of Atonement on death, you may accumulate lots of currencyby progressing through the game!
