Wargroove 2does an excellent job of adding to the original game while incorporating new mechanics to make it more enjoyable. With new units, commanders, and ways to play the game, you’ll want to know what strategies can help you succeed.

It can be challenging to know what ways you should tackle different situations. After all, if you try to rush enemies, you could find yourself losing units and getting overrun. With that in mind, you’re able to use some solid beginner tips to help you develop effective plans and go through the story mode.

Prioritize Capturing Buildings

Resources play a large role in your success: if your opponent can capture more buildings, they can create units and gain gold. If you want to get an advantage in combat, you should rush the buildings and focus on map control.

Doing so allows you to go with riskier moves, seeing what works best and getting a feel for the enemy’s play style. For instance, if they keep rushing strong units, you shouldcheck their stats and counter the enemy with weaker enemies that deal more damage, causing them to lose tons of money.

However, to get to that point, you’ll need to get buildings.Rush the ones toward the middle of the map between you and the enemy, preventing them from capturing it. Doing so will force them to attack the building before they can take it, which can weaken enemies.

It doesn’t hurt touse ranged units to help you take over buildingsyour enemy already has. Doing so can put them in a neutral state without any of your units having to tank hits.

Even if you have a unit with ten percent or lower health, they can still be useful by taking a building. If they do, the enemy will need to spend at least two unit actions to take it, causing them to waste more resources and allowing you to stall longer.

You need to be carefulnot to spread yourself too thin. If you don’t have units that can protect those buildings, the enemy can take them and turn the tides.

Use Your First Groove As Needed

Wargroove 2 adds a new mechanic thatallows you to charge your Groove to 200 percent. You can then perform a second tier version of your ability, allowing you to deal more damage, gain more effects, and similar abilities.

For instance, Mercia normally heals people in the zone by 50 percent. On the other hand, the upgraded version will heal 90 percent in the zone and 10 percent to everyone else. With that in mind, the second Groove is always stronger, but not always the best to use.

You could find yourself in a situation where you’re low on health, soif you’re not going to survive the next round, or you want to save a powerful unit, you could use the first tierimmediately.

It’s important to remember that you can use both versions, so remember that before you use it.

On top of that, if you reach 200 percent, use your Groove as soon as you can. If you don’t, you’ll waste meter gain, causing you to get less Groove uses overall, so play around the percentage and pay attention to it while you fight.

Some people become so focused on the enemy commanders that they forget about the base. Remember thatdefeating the commander or destroying the base will lead to a victory, so don’t tunnel vision on either of them.

For instance, it’s not unusual for enemies to use their commanders and then have them run away once they’re low on health. They usually do so to fortify themselves at buildings, restoring their health in exchange for some gold.If you attempt to chase them down, they could end up with full healthand take out your units.

However, bases can only recover ten percent each turn, so if you have enough enemies there, rush the base to take it down. On the other hand, you shouldn’t become too focused on the base if the enemy is building up their forces, especially if they play aggressively with their commanders.

It comes down to reacting to your opponent’s moves. You may need to play patiently at times and build up your armiesto rush them down once you have the gold lead. Doing so can help you burst through their defenses and take down either of them.

Fighting Around Critical Hits

Each unit performs critical hits differently, except for commanders since they have Grooves. For instance, spear fighters will perform critical hits if they have another spear fighter next to them.

On the other hand, horse riders will dealcritical hits if they travel their maximum distance and then attack, so you’ll want to position them accordingly to deal with different circumstances.

While they may seem like nice bonuses at first, they play a major role in battles. Since you can make them happen consistently with the right setups, you need to play around them. The same applies to enemies since their units have access to the same critical hits.

If you see anew unit you don’t recognize, immediately check their information. Not only will this show you their critical strike conditions, but you can find out which of your units will deal the most damage to them.

Always select attack and hover over the enemy. Doing so will show you the results, so you’re able to work around them and even go for battles where you won’t take damage.

Use Defensive Strategies To Your Advantage

Even though pushing the advantage can help you in many circumstances, you should know that defensive moves are sometimes the better option. While Wargroove 2 rewards aggressive play when you push for the advantage,it can quickly turn around and blow up in your face.

Because of that, you need to get a feel for your characters and know when it’s time to pull back. For instance, if your units are low on health, instead of sending them to their deaths, you can pull them back to heal. Not only will this help them survive, but let them deal more damage later on.

You can also see success from havingone unit stand barely in the range of your enemies and drawing out the others. Doing so can trick them into charging you, then you can swarm the rest of them during your turn.

You can even turn your units into a wall as a defense. If you don’t want the enemies to get close to buildings, place a line in front of them, since opponents can’t go past your teammates. Try to think up different strategies and position your characters in various ways to see how they can help you.

Recognize The Strength Of Weaker Units

Even though it may seem excessive at times, you should build up some of the weaker units. For instance,if you have 300 gold, you could build a sword user for 100 or a spear person for 250.

Even though sword users may seem weak, they can be an amazing unit for scouting ahead, dealing critical damage next to commanders, and capturing buildings. Since they have decent movement range and can be sacrificed, you may use them as low-risk units to help you accomplish your goals.

While it may not seem like much for you to keep buying these smaller units while you build up your supplies, not spending money is money that goes to waste. you may only gain one unit per barracks you own, so you don’t want to end up with a surplus of money and lose the battle anyway.
