Roguelike games remain fun experiences that can test your skills and knowledge, so you’ll naturally perform better as you keep playing.World of Horrorups the challenge by utilizinghorrorelements to make you more hesitant while you go through it. When you first play the game, it can be overwhelming trying to learn and make decisions.
Because of that, it can be challenging to know what you should do to increase your odds of survival. After all, the mysteries will change with each playthrough while also allowing you to get different endings for those mysteries, so use these tips to help you reach the lighthouse.

Keep Your Stamina And Reason Up
Usually, the first number in an RPG is health, while the second is mana, but that’s not quite the case with World Of Horror. YourStamina represents your physical health, while your Reason is your mental health. If either of these run out, you die and must restart your run.
Because of that, you shouldn’t overlook either stat, especially sinceyou can lose both from random events and fights.

You also need to keep track of the max amounts by paying attention to them at the start of the run. Otherwise, if you attempt to restore them, they won’t go above the maximum.
With that in mind, you may sometimes cast spells that cost both Stamina and Reason; however, using it in certain situations can help you avoid damage. For instance, you have Ithotu Flame, which deals eight damage. If the enemy deals two damage to Stamina, Reason, or both, spending the cost on Ithotu Flame might be better if you win the fight and avoid the damage.

As another point, whenever you level up, you can increase your Stamina or Reason.Choose whichever one is lowest, unless you have a debuff that’ll impact your stats. For instance, Holes causes you to lose two Stamina as time passes, so boosting your Stamina might be better even if it’s a bit higher than your Reason.
Even though you can level up right away, if you’re near full health for Stamina and Reason, hold off until you take more damage to maximize the impact.

As a side note, you shouldtry to keep your stats balanced. When certain events occur, the game will perform a stat check and determine if you succeed or fail. If you ignore some of your stats, it could lead to dire consequences down the road.
You should also take advantage of other items and situations to restore your stats. For example, you gain one Stamina and Reason when you complete a mystery, so don’t be afraid if you start to run low on health.

Take Risks During The Early Game
As the game goes on, your doom percentage will increase. If it reaches 100 percent, you lose. Because of that, you can take more risks early on since your doom increasing won’t cause as many problems as later on.
With that said, you should still manage it carefully. As a general rule, try to end a mystery with 20 doom or less. Since completing a mystery lowers it by five percent on the standard difficulty, you won’t have above 75 percent when you reach the end game.
The risks go beyond doom, since you can also lose Stamina and Reason based on your decisions. You shouldstart playing it safe once your Stamina and Reason drop to about 75 percent, so if you start with 21 of each, don’t take large risks once you get to about 16.
Different events can potentially lead to rewards, such as new items, restoring your Stamina, and providing you plenty of other benefits. Some of them will have bad drawbacks, while others may have you perform different stat checks, so you’ll want to see how it plays out.
If it looks like you’re going to lose, you may as well take risks anyway. You have nothing to lose at that point, sogoing for them may give you an advantage to survive longer.
Play The Mysteries You’re Familiar With First
Every time you start a new run, you’ll be given randomized mysteries that you can tackle in any order.See if you have completed any of themand play through those first.
If you can’t remember which ones you completed based on the names, check the number of endings you’ve completed. Since events may occur again, you have better odds of knowing what choice to make during those moments, helping you survive for longer.
You can evenexperiment further by trying to get different endings. You may find that some have easier paths than others, letting you have better stats for the other missions.
Knowledge is power in this game, so do your best to learn from these experiences and use them in future playthroughs. You can also know what items to buy from the store ahead of time to keep yourself safe.
Hold Onto Items, Equipment, And Allies
Even though you have limited inventory space, you shouldhoard everything you can in this game. Wait to get rid of items and use them until you need more space or they become useless. Even though you only get four or so slots, you can save space by using equipment.
You have three slots that allow you to equip different weapons to fight, items to boost your stats, and other trinkets, like masks. Since they don’t count as item slots, you should always have them equipped, allowing you to have more items available. For instance, if you have Ritual Dagger, you can equip it and have a Branch ready just in case.
With that in mind, you shouldnever discard items you come across, unless it’s to complete a side mission, which can get you items and other bonuses. Otherwise, you should send them to storage, allowing you to use other items and weapons as you need them.
As for allies, you should get as many of them as you may sincethey offer you passive buffs. They can increase your stats, give you more equipment space, and more.
Pay Attention To Curses And The Old God
Each time you play the game, you’ll encounter new curses and have to deal with one of the Old Gods. Each one will have a passive debuff they apply to your playthrough, such as preventing you from running away or making Doom increase faster.
While the first debuff will be consistent, you’ll receive another random one when you complete a mystery. They can vary from stopping you from going to the library or affecting the water to prevent you from taking baths. Because of that, you shouldsee what the Old God changed after each mystery.
The same applies to any curses you may receive. They can simply impact your stats, such as having a cut near your mouth, or cause a debuff that can harm you throughout the game. For instance,Holes causes you to take Stamina damageafter you finish mysteries.
Managing all of these and keeping them in mind will be your key to survival during a run. If you ignore any of them, they can quickly come back to harm you, so feel free todouble-check them if you forget any by using the menu at the bottom. you’re able to select Status or Old God to access any of this vital information.
