Enter Mirage, a card that not only gives you information on your opponent’s deck, but also gives you an edge on top. Mirage copies the lowest cost card in your opponent’s hand and adds it to yours, but with plus two power. With the right support, this effect can help you win many Conquest matches.

10Killmonger

Destroying your opponent’s cards is always going to be a valuable ability to have, so Killmonger fits basically any deck. Locations like Mojo World can be won at the final moments of a match, since you can let them feel confident they filled it out with a few one drops only to remove them with a late Killmonger.

The specific combination with Mirage makes it, so you know what you’re targeting, since you’re likely to get a one drop. Of course, you’d want to play Killmonger first to reap the benefits of the plus two added by Mirage, but otherwise you’re making a powerful play with these two cards.

9White Queen

Considering Mirage’s ability, the most similar card one can think of is White Queen. They have similar power but different aims; the Queen looks to see the end game of your opponent, avoiding any surprises on the final turn.

And being a four-drop, you get time to prepare your strategy around your findings.

When gathering information, having both cards work together can tell you all you need to know about how the match will play out, improving your win rate significantly. When you may predict aLegionplay, you can maneuver, so you play your Legion copy first, ruining their flooding strategy.

8Cosmo

In a deck filled with on-reveal cards, Cosmo can be tricky to play. You need to think about all your plays following the dog and its role in your strategy.

The way Cosmo usually works in these decks is as a protector of your big cards, therefore you need to choose which location you want to win and which one you might want to abandon.

With Mirage, since you know what they will likely play on turn three, you can attempt to snipe their on reveal with a good Cosmo placement. You can follow this up by having your copied card do its own on-reveal effectively, gaining a lot of momentum.

7Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde is a very flexible card that is nearly never a bad play. Her main disadvantage is that you’re able to’t play her in tandem with six cost cards on turn six, yet that is very easy to accommodate.

In a Mirage deck, you’re looking to discount many of the cards you steal or copy, therefore you’re likely to have the extra energy for a Kitty play.

An additional synergy with Mirage is how well Kitty can combine with many cards, especially low-cost ones. A lot of people play Angela and Beast on decks with or without Kitty, and those cards pair very well with the mutant.

6Cable

Mirage and Cable might seem like they compete for the same spot, but you can easily have them on the same deck. While Mirage copies and improves upon the cards of your opponent, Cable just steals them.

With Cable, you not only know what they were going to play, you know that during this match they can’t play it.

The more cards you have from your opponent’s deck, the more you’re able to use their synergies. If you copy a Carnage and steal aPhoenix Force, you now have a very powerful combo and the knowledge that your opponent won’t be bringing anything back with the flaming bird.

5Angela

The more cards you play on Angela the more she grows, but you run the risk of filling a location too early and not having enough power to back Angela up. That means that what you need to play on Angela is both quality and quantity; cheap and powerful cards.

Mirage offers that and more since what you copy from your opponent’s hand will not only have improved power but likely a very low cost. Even if they play the same card as you in the same location, you will be winning, and buffing Angela on top of it.

Add to that multiple Kitty placements, and you’ll end up with a very big Asgardian.

4Moon Girl

The duplicating powers of Moon Girl mean nothing without a supporting deck, and a Mirage build offers just that. By having a cheap, powerful card in hand, you can ensure to follow that Moon Girl play with a double up of whatever you copied with Mirage, making for a powerful turn five or six.

If all else fails, on this particular build of the deck you still have use for a full hand. In turn five, you can play Moon Girl alongside Kitty to prevent her from returning, letting you play a copied six drop and having power spread all across the board.

3Quinjet

Whenever you’re planning on having cards enter your hand from outside your deck, Quinjet is a must-have. While it can’t lower cards to zero, the combination with Mirage and the turn she’s played ensures a discount.

Since she comes out on turn two, whatever one drops your opponent had would be played already.

The combination with Moon Girl is also notable since the card copied by Mirage would be so cheap that playing two of them wouldn’t be an issue. And whatever Moon Girl copies would get Quinjet’s discount, even if it was a card from your deck.

2The Collector

A Mirage-focused deck would generate so many cards, that even with discounts it would be hard to play them all. What The Collector adds to the equation is power fueled by your unused cards; drawing Mirage on the final turn would no longer be such a bad thing.

Once The Collector is in play, even if you generate cards to the point you may’t draw those cards would still be juicing him up. He’s great for playing in locations that will close up, flooding, or even undiscovered locations.

Being such an early play he can squeeze nearly anywhere, and even as late as turn six you can keep adding power to him.

1Devil Dinosaur

The big power Dino is the crowning jewel of the whole deck, and what ultimately makes it work if you didn’t copy anything good from your opponent. Much like The Collector, Devil Dinosaur uses all the dead cards in your hand to gain incredible power.

He synergizes with the whole deck; Moon Girl can give you a second Dino, Cosmo can protect it and Mirage makes it bigger. While the plan is to steal and copy the abilities of your opponent, if for any reason you didn’t manage to snag a final play, Devil Dinosaur rounds up the whole strategy and allows you to have a sweeping win in one (or even two) locations with no issue.
