Wielders of the wildest of magics, Sorcerers are a fun class option to dive into the magical side ofBaldur’s Gate 3while still not being as complicated as the likes of Wizards — though they’re still more complex than Warlocks. Regardless, they offer many exciting spell options, the famous Wild Magic subclass, and two less chaotic yet amazing subclasses to go with.

With such a powerful and fun class to play with, you might wonder which feats you should get to enhance your experience. After all, there are many feats to choose from, and you’ll only be able to select three with your Sorcerer. What should you choose?

the Ability Improvement feat from Baldur’s Gate 3

Though lightly armored or moderately armored feats would be good for you, you can get these proficiencies with certain races, such as Humans or Half-Elves, so we won’t cover them here.

6Ability Improvement

As mentioned, you’ll only be able to get three feats at levels four, eight, and 12. This situation forces you to be sure of your picks when reaching these levels, and though you could just get three feats, we recommend you improve your ability score at least once.

Getting a 20on your Charisma— the ability responsible for your spells' effectiveness — isn’t that big of a necessity, but leaving it in the 18-19 range is already pretty powerful, making you quite the powerhouse.

The Elemental Adept feat from Baldur’s Gate 3.

Alternatively, if you leave your Charisma at 17 during character creation, you could take the Actor feat, increasing it to 18 and giving you some skill proficiencies. Or you may still take Ability Improvement and increase two ability scores that are in odd numbers, so their bonuses will increase as well.

5Elemental Adept

Most spells involve elements in their damage types. So, if you intend to focus on these types of spells with your character, Elemental Adept is a good choice for you. You’ll choose one element when you get this feat, and from now on, your spells will deal full damage against enemies who are usually resistant to these damage types.

Your choices will be fire, lightning, thunder, acid, and cold. These spells won’t ignore immunities, though, only resistance. As a plus to the whole situation, every time you roll a one on the damage — while using a spell with the element you chose — this one will increase to a two, ensuring yourFireballs won’t be weak due to bad luck on dice rolls.

The War Caster feat from Baldur’s Gate 3

4War Caster

This feat is another particularly useful feat, especially if you intend on getting a lot of spells that require concentration.

You’ll get two perks from this feat: the first will be an advantage every time you need to roll a saving throw to keep your concentration on a spell, essentially meaning it’ll be more challenging for your enemies to break yourHold Person— or other spells.

The Magic Initiate feat from Baldur’s Gate 3

The second part will allow you to useShocking Graspas an opportunity attack whenever the enemy backs away from you, allowing you to do something that actually hurts with your opportunity attack because, let’s face it, your weapon is just for show. Well, unless it gives you fantastic magic bonuses, of course. Or you’re multiclassing, but we digress.

3Magic Initiate (Bard, Warlock, Or Sorcerer)

Let’s talk about a combo of feats. Technically speaking, it is just one, Magic Initiate, which allows you toget two cantripsand one first-level spell from another class and add it to your list of spells. Unlike your main spells, though, the spell you choose here won’t cost a spell slot, but you’ll only be able to use it once per long rest.

Though nothing stops you from getting more spells from your class, we recommend you to choose either Bard or Warlock spells since you’ll be able to use your Charisma when rolling with these spells, as choosing Wizard will demand you to use your Intelligence, and both Cleric and Druid you require your Wisdom for the rolls. Still, you could use it for spells that do not require rolls, such asFind Familiar.

The Spell Sniper feat from Baldur’s Gate 3

2Spell Sniper

Spell Sniper is another efficient way of increasing your magic repertoire, though this time, it’ll only get you an extra cantrip. That’s not all, obviously — otherwise, it’ll be a pretty bad feat. Along with that, the number you need to hit on the die for a critical hit will lower by one when using spells. That means you’ll do critical damage if you hit 19 (or more) on the die, increasing your chances by five percent.

Having a ten percent chance of striking a critical hit is pretty helpful, and some items help you increase this chance even more, as the feat specifies that it stacks with other sources. Just ensure these other sources will work with spell attacks, and you’re good to go. If your build focuses on spells that force the opponent into saving throws, however, this feat may not be the best choice for you.

The Lucky feat from Baldur’s Gate 3

1Lucky

The Joker of feats, Lucky is effective for everybody, and Sorcerers are no exception. The idea is simple: you’ll get a new resource called Lucky Points (which you’ll have three of), and you can use them togive yourself an advantageon Attack Rolls, Saving Throws, or Ability Checks.

That by itself is pretty powerful, making sure you succeed more often, but combined with Spell Sniper — if you’re up getting two feats — or other things that increase your chance to do critical hits, you’ll get these hits even more often, thanks to the advantage. Your enemies won’t even know what hit them.
