Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2features over a dozen assault rifles for players to choose from. While most ARs can feel similar at first glance, each weapon can behave quite differently once you start using attachments and weapon tuning. In the FR Avancer’s case, this weapon can become a mid-range monster or a powerful long-range dueling weapon depending on your build.
The FR Avancer, inspired by the FAMAS F1 FÉLIN, is a bullpup assault rifle with a blazing fast fire rate for an assault rifle, minimal recoil, and clear iron sights. Today, we’ll be looking at how you may unlock the FR Avancer in MW2 and showcase some great attachment builds for both multiplayer and Warzone.
How To Unlock The FR Avancer
Anyone who missed the FR Avancer during Season 5 may obtain this weapon bylanding 35 Operator headshot kills.This challenge tracks your player kills across MW2 multiplayer, Warzone, and DMZ; AI kills donotcount. Extracting the FR Avancer out of a DMZ match will also unlock it for multiplayer and Warzone.
The weapon itself is part of the unique Feret platform, consisting of20 weapon levels.Most levels will unlock exclusive attachments for this weapon such as combs, stocks, and barrels. The FR Avancer shares optic, underbarrel, laser, muzzle, and 5.56 NATO ammo attachments with other weapons.
Stealth FR Avancer Build
The FR Avancer is an amazing mid-range weapon that only requires a few tweaks to fit an aggressive playstyle, hence why we’ve opted to use recoil mitigation and ADS speed attachments. We start be equipping theEcholine GS-Xto suppress each shot, pairing nicely with the Ghost perk for stealth gameplay. TheFSS OLE-V Laseris ideal for this weapon since it buffs aiming stability, ADS speed, and sprint-to-fire time. It does have a visible laser, however, so be wary of pre-aiming corners. You can always opt for an invisible laser if you tend to play one-life modes like Search and Destroy.
As for the other attachments, we equip a45 Round Magto fix the FR Avancer’s otherwise awful base magazine size of 25. To reign in the gun’s recoil, we use theFTAC Ripper 56to greatly reduce overall recoil while adding a ton of aiming stability. This lets us use theSA Iongrip with no noticeable penalty, giving the FR Avancer perfect recoil for up to 30 meters. Duels at 50+ meters become much more difficult due to the Avancer’s horizontal recoil, so be mindful of your distance.
Loadout Recommendations
The FR Avancer is an excellent weapon for stealth builds, especially this build since it has low recoil and a suppressor equipped. TheGhostperk will ensure that you stay off enemy UAVs, allowing you to safely flank enemies in most game modes. For tougher lobbies where Ghost isn’t enough, use theDead SilenceField Upgrade to muffle your footsteps. This should make aggressive flanks much easier to pull off. For the rest of your perks,Trackeris great for hiding kill skulls whileCold-Bloodedwill keep you safe from AI killstreaks. Aggressive players may opt to use Fast Hands instead. The rest of your gear is down to preference, althoughyou can’t go wrong withThrowing Knivesand Stimsfor your equipment.
Warzone FR Avancer Build
This FR Avancer build is tuned for Warzone and Ground War, focusing on accuracy at the cost of speed. The600mm FR Longborebarrel is essential here, reducing the gun’s overall recoil while greatly increasing the FR’s effective range. We then use theKomodo Heavymuzzle to effectively remove the weapon’s horizontal recoil, making it much easier to control. TheFTAC Ripper 56underbarrel andSA Iongrip are then used to clamp the weapon’s vertical recoil. Paired with a45 Round Mag, the FR Avancer hardly moves when shooting distant targets.
All of these attachments come at the cost of ADS speed, so you will struggle to fight enemies in close range. attempt to avoid SMGs and shotguns when possible. But once you fight at assault rifle ranges, the FR Avancer will have little issue winning gunfights if you may land upper torso shots.

We’ll be recommending the same loadout as our previous attachment build, opting to use stealth perks likeGhostandTrackerto avoid getting pushed by more aggressive players. This weapon does not have a suppressor installed, but you can swap the Komodo Heavy barrel for any suppressor if you don’t mind the added horizontal recoil that comes from this. Other perks and gear are down to preference, although we highly recommendFast Handson this weapon since it reloads slowly with larger magazines.
