Summary
Remnant 2features a wide array of weapons that are divided into three categories: long guns, handguns, and melee weapons. The handgun is the secondary weapon of the game and is suited for mid- to close-range combat. While reliable, the hand gun won’t be able to match up to the long gun’s overall capabilities, but this doesn’t mean that you should ignore this particular arsenal.
Certain encounters and scenarios in Remnant 2 might call for you to switch weapons while in the heat of battle. Obviously, you would want your secondary weapon, in this case, the handgun, to be just as reliable. Remnant 2 comes with a total of 19 different hand guns to choose from, and it is important to know the pros and cons of each to determine which one will suit your style best.

Updated on July 31, 2025, by Mohamed El Ouardighi:Each new DLC for Remnant 2 brings a plethora of fresh equipment and weapons for you to savor in the game. We’ve expanded this list to include a couple more.
12Service Pistol
The Service Pistol, available early in the game, serves as the starting handgun for the Medic archetype and boasts considerable firepower. Its notable accuracy makes it lethal up to 20 meters. However, being a standard weapon, it lacks a unique weapon mod and has a smaller magazine capacity, necessitating frequent reloads. Yet, its heightened damage output and accuracy help counter these drawbacks.
Considering its limited ammo, upgrading the Service Pistol with the Dreadwalker weapon mod becomes a prudent choice. Despite its limitations, this handgun remains versatile, offering reliability as a secondary weapon when wielded with strategic precision.

11MP60-R
This is a fully automatic pistol that can be obtained early in the game with the Cargo Control Key that you will find in Ward 13. Alternatively, the MP60-R is a starting weapon forthe Summoner archetype. Despite having a low damage output, the fact that you can unload a full clip and rip enemies to shreds makes the MP60-R an excellent automatic pistol to have in hectic close-quarter combat scenarios.
In addition, the MP60-R also has an exceptionally low recoil, so you don’t have to worry about it firing all over the place. As with all automatic firearms in Remnant 2, equipping the MP60-R with the Hot Shot weapon mod will unlock its full potential in dealing damage to foes.

10Meridian
If you’re a fan of grenade launchers, then the Meridian is the perfect weapon for you. Although it’s classified as a handgun, this grenade launcher shines in delivering area-of-effect damage, making it incredibly effective in close-quarters combat situations. Plus, if you’re looking for a little extra “boom,” its weapon mod, Screamer, transforms it into a rocket launcher, allowing you to unleash a high-powered rocket that deals massive damage to nearby enemies.
With its explosive capabilities, the Meridian is an excellent choice for dealing with groups of adversaries swiftly and efficiently. To get your hands on it, you will need to explore until you come across the Flooded Sewer, which is of course random, in Losomn.

9Silverback Model 500
The Silverback Model 500 is a fitting starting weapon forthe Challenger archetypebecause of its high damage output, which complements this game’s tank class. you may also purchase this potent hand cannon from Brabus in Ward 13.
As a starting weapon, the Silverback Model 500 is certainly one of the best and can easily take the cannon fodder enemies out of the equation with relative ease. Since it doesn’t have any built-in weapon mods, you can freely customize it to your preference. However, equipping it with the Blood Draw mod is a good way to inflict bleeding damage while baiting them in for a solid melee blow to the head.

8Double Barrel
The classic Double Barrel is the base starting weapon forthe Alchemist archetypeand can alternatively be obtained by completing the “Head Doctor and the Iron Safe"Morrow Parish side quest event in Losomn. This compact shotgun pairs well with decent long guns, as any stragglers that get too close can be introduced to the Double Barrel for a quick farewell.
The Double Barrel packs a wallop with its 110 DMG rating, making it an incredibly reliable secondary weapon throughout the game. Try attaching the Time Lapse weapon mod and roleplaying as Dio, toying with enemies using The World Time Stop ability.

7Rupture Cannon
The Rupture Cannon is a fantastic close-range weapon, as it packs the destructive power of a shotgun within the compact size of a pistol. The damage that the Rupture Cannon can inflict is second only to that of the Double barrel, and using this weapon against bullet-spongy enemies can significantly cut the encounter shorter. Of course, you need to get in close to fully deliver the devastation that the Rupture Cannon can inflict on its target, but it still has a pretty decent damage output at mid-range.
This pistol shotgun can be found in N’Erud, specifically withinthe Vault of the Formless Dungeon. It has a solid stagger effect, which can assist in stopping enemies during their attack animation. Take note that the Rupture Cannon takes time to reload, so it is better to switch to your long gun or melee weapon if you are about to get flanked.

6Rune Pistol
The best handgun forMedic or Healer builds, the Rune Pistol is a well-rounded semi-automatic handgun that is dependable in close-to-mid-range encounters. To get the Rune Pistol, you must first obtain the Decrepit Rune, which you can get with the Ravenous Medallion in the Nightweaver’s Realm. The Rune Pistol has impressive accuracy, semi-auto fire, and a decent magazine size.
What makes the Rune Pistol special is its built-in weapon mod, the Soul Brand. This weapon mod, when activated, will cause all enemies within a 25-meter radius to be marked. Killing enemies with a Soul Brand will cause them to leave an Echo behind. These Echoes will be drawn in by you or any allies nearby and heal 20 percent of your maximum health.

5Cube Gun
The Cube Gun is a cool-looking hand gun that has similarities to the equally cool shape-shifting Service Weapon from another excellent third-person shooter,Control. One of the biggest advantages of the Cube Gun is that it’s an infinite-ammo weapon. Aside from having unlimited ammunition with decent damage output for mid- and close-range encounters, the Cube Gun also comes with a weapon mod called the Cube Shield.
As you can tell from the name, activating this mod will give you a shield that will last for 15 seconds and can absorb up to 500 damage from enemies. The Cube Shield mod can give you a breather during extremely hairy situations so that you can formulate a plan to get out of said sticky situation. You can obtain the Cube Gun by beating the Labyrinth Sentinel boss, which will drop a key material for crafting this unique hand gun.

4Sorrow
TheSorrow is a crossbow pistolthat excels at midrange with its high accuracy. You can easily pick apart enemies trying to close in, and its built-in weapon mod, the Eulogy, allows you to recall bolts, which will not only inflict an additional 30 damage points but also heal two percent of your max HP.
In addition, the Sorrow scales ridiculously high for every level gained, which makes it one of the most lethal secondary weapons when fully upgraded.

3Enigma
The ultimate secondary weapon for AOE damage, the Enigma is a weapon that you can craft, and to do so, you need the Cipher Rod that is found within the Labyrinth. A quick glance at the weapon’s stats might lead you to think that the Enigma is a low-tier handgun, but try using it, and you will see that it can easily stand on its own even with the abysmal stagger and critical hit chance rating.
Rather than firing bullets, the Enigma instead fires bolts of lightning that will hit all enemies within a 7.5-meter radius. Each enemy that gets hit in the succeeding chaos will absorb less damage but will be inflicted with an Overloaded status effect for 5.2 seconds.
