Updated July 14, 2025 by Jacqueline Zalace:Setting up your ideal village can be a long process in Minecraft. We’ve updated this list with a few more great village building ideas to include next time you are renovating an entire town in the game.

14Central Fountain

Just because you want to build a village doesn’t mean everything you construct has to look like a house or serve a functional purpose. Just look at Goldrobin’s fountain tutorial, as it compliments any village by creating a central area for Villagers to gather at the end of the day.

To construct this water feature, you’ll need to collect some stone bricks, and learn how to create a somewhat circular pattern that serves as the foundation of the fountain. Finally, once the structure of the fountain is complete, simply deploy your water source and watch as the liquid flows downwards, creating a graceful pattern.

13Custom Village Path

Pathways are the veins of your community, guiding you and your Villagers around their homes, trading hubs, and professions. Most importantly, Cryptozoology’s custom village path features multiple styles, each using unique materials to better match your entire village’s aesthetic.

For example, you can use the classic natural pathway shown in the picture, or spice up your village with a brick or stone path. No matter which customization option you choose, it is important to plan out the major walking networks of your village before you construct anything because these paths serve as the perfect designations for buildings.

12Villager Trading Stalls

If you have chosen to inhabit your custom village with Villagers, then chances are you’ll want a dedicated space focused on delivering the best trades that emeralds can buy. Specifically, each Villager hastheir own profession, which designates how they work throughout the day and what kind of materials they are willing to barter with.

These simplistic trading stalls are a great way of securing Villagers in a safe space away from dangerous mobs, while also stopping them from running away when you want to trade with them.

We recommend setting up a pretty substantial sheep farm before you construct these small market stalls, as each roof is made up of a different dyed wool.

11Villager House

Although Mojang went out of its way to update the vanilla villages that spawn throughout Minecraft, these generated structures can still get rather repetitive. To combat this, we suggest updating the base Villager houses into something more unique, perhaps even a different building structure for each house you want to create.

A great example of this is ItsMarloe’s Villager House, which takes the classic small cottage style and adds just a bit more detail to the overall build. To complete this look, you’ll need to collect different types of wood and even craft some concrete to serve as the walls of the house.

10Mob Watchtower

The greatest threat to any village in Minecraft is definitely surprise raids from either villainous groups of Illagers orrandomly spawning mobs.Specifically, zombies love to feast on Villagers, completely ruining their trades and turning them into yet another hostile mob.

To prevent this from happening, you can decorate your town with various watchtowers that will dot the edge of your town with sources of light, thus warding off mobs from spawning. Although actual soldiers can not man these towers, you can always create extra iron golems at the base of each building to kill any pesky mobs that dare venture into your territory.

9Villager Farmhouse

Arguably the most important aspect of any village is the farm, as the inhabitants will not be able to eat, heal, or reproduce without a consistent source of food. To highlight how important this source of life is, you may follow Blitzheart’s Farm House tutorial, which creates a large, two-story structure that easily looms above smaller Villager homes

Furthermore, the house is also surrounded by a field of wheat, which can be utilized as a decorative feature or by villagers in the farming profession. Finally, remember to collect enough bricks and dark oak planks, as the roof and fireplace require these blocks to make the house stand out from other wooden structures around it.

8Village Walls

This tutorial is yet another example of how Cryptozoology is capable of using a small palette of blocks to create a specific color scheme that matches different village aesthetics. In this instance, this particular wall is only about three blocks high, and is made out of leaves, stripped oak logs, and mud brick fences.

While you could always make the wall taller, these creations always require a deceptively large amount of blocks, materials, and time to construct, so starting small is always the better option. Once again, if this particular wall does not match the vibe of your village, there are dozens of other styles available in his tutorial.

7Villager Blacksmith

While the farmers of a village keep the townspeople healthy, the blacksmith is focused on smelting down materials such as iron, all in an effort to trade valuable metals and craft more iron golems. As this profession requires a blast furnace to function properly, it is only fitting that you also decorate the exterior of the building in a suitable fashion.

A great example of a Villager Blacksmith can be found in one of Lioncheater’s many build tutorials online. This specific project showcases how adding two simple stone brick towers onto a wooden structure will give the building a sense of importance among the other typical wooden houses found throughout a Minecraft village.

6Windmill

A windmill is another example of a building that serves a purely decorative function, instead of an actual house or storage area. These tall turbines can be placed around your wheat fields, or any other crop, to spruce up the overall area.

Sadly, the windmill itself will never turn without the use of someextensive Minecraft mods, but you’re able to still dot the landscape with at least one of these towers. Finally, remember to collect a nice amount of wool before you start the build, as it will serve as the cloth connected to each spoke of the windmill.

5Village Lighthouse

If your village happens to be located next to a large lake or the ocean, then you may always construct a decorative Lighthouse that overlooks the water. In Minecraft, there are many different ways to create the light that shines at the top of a Lighthouse, and armun’s tutorial showcases how you can use redstone and lamps to create a dynamic light source.

This building consists of a large tower made from stone bricks, and a roof made out of whichever wood block you like the best. Most importantly, remember to leave space inside the tower for the redstone, since you will need a good amount of this ore to make this light source shine at night.
