Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2introduced the Tempus Razorback in Season 4. This assault rifle is unique in that it shares some DNA with SMGs, featuring a short sprint-to-fire delay and blazing fast ADS speed without any attachments. It also has a fast fire rate and minimal recoil, making this a perfect weapon for more aggressive playstyles.

For those looking to create the perfect build for the VHS-K2, this guide has you covered. We’ll go over how to obtain this weapon, showcase two great builds for it, and cover some solid loadout synergies that maximize the Tempus Razorback’s potential.

COD MW2 Tempus Razorback AR

How To Unlock The Tempus Razorback

The Tempus Razorback may be obtained bydefeating 35 operators with assault rifles while mounted. This can be done in MW2 multiplayer, Warzone, or DMZ, although bear in mind that only player kills contribute progress. Any assault rifle will count for this challenge. We recommend using theTR-76 Geistor the Chimera to get this done quickly.

DMZ Weapon Extraction

Successfully extracting from a DMZ match with the Tempus Razorback in your inventory will unlock the weapon for use in MW2 multiplayer and Warzone.

Once unlocked, players will need to level the Tempus Razorback tolevel 22before unlocking all attachments and weapon tuning. Beyond unique grips and stocks, the Tempus Razorback also has a unique underbarrel attachment called theDM Proto-Grip, granting horizontal recoil control and aiming stability at the cost of ADS speed and sprint-to-fire time.

Aggressive Tempus Razorback Build

This build focuses on maximizing the aggressive stat package of the Tempus Razorback, turning it into an SMG/AR hybrid that can excel at close to medium range. We use theKomodo Heavymuzzle to eliminate horizontal recoil on the tail end of the magazine, causing this weapon to have perfectly vertical recoil. We can then reduce it further with theDemo Firm Grip. While this grip does reduce your walking speed, it has the smaller penalty than the FTAC Ripper 56 and similar attachments.

Now that the recoil is perfectly vertical, it’s time to buff the Tempus Razorback’s movement speed and ADS speeds. We use theCasus Xrear grip andLTX Eclipsecomb to greatly buff the weapon’s sprint-fo-fire time and ADS speeds. Paired with ADS tuning, the weapon should ADS about as quickly as with no attachments. Our final attachment isTR Preamble, a stock that greatly improves your strafe and sprint speeds at the cost of aiming stability. The Demo Firm Grip has enough stability to offset this, leaving you with a fast-firing assault rifle with the handling of an SMG.

Loadout Recommendations

The Tempus Razorback requires an aggressive loadout to perform well in MW2 multiplayer.Quick Fixis essential here, allowing you to immediately regenerate your HP after a kill. This lets you rapidly enter 1v1 gunfights and potentially win 1v2 or 1v3 fights. We also recommend usingFast Handsto reload the Razorback in an instant, allowing you to run and gun with minimal issues. This setup also benefits fromThrowing Knivesto kill a sudden opponent while you’re reloading or performing another action.

Warzone Tempus Razorback Build

The Tempus Razorback’s fast fire rate and minimal recoil make it a solid choice for Warzone and DMZ, something we’ll be focusing on with this build. We equip theFTAC Castle Compto reduce the weapon’s recoil, further reduced by using this weapon’s exclusiveDM Proto-Gripunderbarrel that grants a massive boost to the weapon’s stability and recoil control. TheOPR Threatfurther buffs the weapon’s recoil control and aiming stability, making this weapon have virtually no recoil at all ranges. Finally, we use the60 Round Magto minimze reloads during a gunfight.

These attachments make the Tempus Razorback more of a traditional assault rifle, sacrificing raw speed for recoil control and aiming stability. You can tune the attachments for ADS speed, but this comes with a significant penalty to the weapon’s long-range accuracy. We suggest not tuning the weapon if you plan on fighting enemies from 50+ meters with the Tempus Razorback. If you prefer fighting up close, you can replace the stock with an attachment of your choice.

For most players, we recommend using astealthy loadoutthat employsGhostto stay off enemy radar. The use ofOverkillwill also allow you to bring a Sniper RIfle or SMG to cover longer or shorter distances, respectively. The rest of your perks and gear are down to preference, although you can never go wrong withThrowing KnivesandFast Hands.
