A chair is a chair. When you’re shopping for a gaming chair to take your idle sitting to the next level, there are a lot of options out there. Different colours, different materials, and different ergonomic designs. But at the end of the day, they’re all chairs, and once you’ve used one, you’ll have a pretty decent idea of what you can expect from the others.

The Boulies Master Series chairs are all similar, with slight improvements between them, and the Master Max features a larger size overall. Trying out the Boulies Master 2024, which is the latest in the lineup, I am neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed - but I am satisfied.

With an aesthetic that is reminiscent of most gaming chairs, I wasn’t too blown away by the Master 2024, and at no other point from then on did it surprise me much either. Still, I cannot deny the comfort, the fulfillment of needs, and the appeal of the green-grey colour option that I opted for. I was more than happy with the standard experience this chair offered, and I don’t really need much else from it.

To me, the Master 2024 proves that luxury doesn’t need to be a key factor in quality - there are chairs thatfeelpremium and have that expensive air to them, and this one is missing that. But that doesn’t mean it feels cheap; it’s noticeable if you’re coming from some of the bigger name brands, but generally, it’s a somewhat subtle step back to the basics.

Boulies Master 2024 Close Up Lumbar Support

The Master 2024 still costs £369.99, though, which is no small price when it comes to desk chairs. Sure, it’s by no means the most expensive and sits within a pretty average price range, but it’s still a cost that you’ll want to consider and make sure you’re getting something you’re happy with. And for this amount, the Boulies Master 2024 doesn’t branch out or feature any real outstanding elements to impress you as some others might do at the same price.

It’s a comfortable chair, and it’s one that has everything that you could possibly need from it - but it might not have everything you want. PU, leather, or water-resistant fabric; decently adjustable arms; even the usual lumbar support that can be tweaked to sit exactly as you want it. Outside of this, however, it’s pretty unremarkable. There are other big brands that offer extra features, or even just a little more extravagance, and even some smaller brands that go above and beyond what you might expect - so it’s easy to recommend a wider range of options than just the Boulies Master series.

That said, I stillwouldrecommend this chair as one of those options. It sits comfortably in what it sets out to do, and I am happy to use it for the foreseeable future as my home office chair, with no real complaints nor any outstanding praises. It’s a good chair, but it’s not a great chair - for the price, it feels like it meets the standards I would expect, but it doesn’t do nearly enough to max out the capabilities and possibilities that other chairs within the price range will likely accomplish.
