It often reflects their personality, might be related to the species of animal they are, or ties into their color palette. Whether you want to theme your home a specific way or just want a change, it’s possible.
This guide details how to unlock the ability to customize your home’s exterior, the different options you’ll have, and how much it’ll cost so that the outside of your home can be just as unique as the inside.
How To Unlock Exterior Housing Customization
Once youobtain your home and move out of your tent, Tom Nook will begin to offer you the ability tocustomizeyour home’s exterior.
It starts off small at first, but witheach housing upgrade,you can customize moreand more.
Any housing customizationcan be done byvisiting Tom Nookin yourResident Servicesbuilding andsitting at his counteron the left-hand side.
Speak to him, and select “Let’s talk about homes,“then “About my home…” and finally, “I want to customize.”
Each customizationcosts 5,000 Bells, and will be completedon the following day,like with housing expansions or moving homes and shops.
From there, you’ll go into thecustomization menu,where you can decide oneach aspect of your homedepending on what customization options you’ve unlocked.
Each timeyouexpand your home, Tom Nook will also ask if you want to change the color of your roof between one of several different colors depending on the roof type.
Each housing shape has itsown setof availableexterior designs and colors.
This is the first exterior customizationchoice you get, butfull exterior customizationdoes not begin until thethird housing expansion:adding aleft room.
