InThe Sims 4, there are plenty of ways to tweak your Sims needs and moodlets, but potions offer an instantaneous option. Whether a serum made by a Scientist, a potion brewed up by a Spellcaster, or just a Reward Store offering, there’s a potion out there for all your gameplay needs.
Instantly refill a Sim’s needs, change their physical size, give them a specific moodlet to match their current activity, or even offer them everlasting life, all with the power of a potion. In this guide, we’re breaking down all the potion and serum recipes in The Sims 4.

Use Reward Points To Buy Potions In The Base Game
Though your Sims aren’t able tomakethem,potions are available in the Reward Storeas part of the base game for The Sims 4. By accumulating points earned bycompleting wantsor reaching new benchmarks inyour Sim’s aspirations, you can buy any number of potions for your Sims.
Thesesingle-use itemsoffer a bevy of different effects, from instantlyfilling needs, giving your Sims differentmoodlets, and more.

Potions are bought in exchange forreward points, but the Sim that purchases the potion doesn’t necessarily have to be the one to drink it - by removing it from your inventory, other Sims can consume the potion as well.
It’s a good loophole if you have another Sim in your household and one has more reward points than the other!

Scientists Can Make Serums In The Sims 4: Get To Work
TheScientist careerarrived in The Sims 4 as part of theGet to Work expansion, and though there’s plenty of critical science to do, Scientist Sims can progressively make more and moreserumsas part of their work.
Though nottechnicallypotions,serums function the same as potionsby changing your Sims' moods, needs, and more.
Among all the other cool perks to the Scientist career in The Sims 4, for each level your Sim ispromotedthrough the career, they’ll permanently unlocknew serumrecipes. It will initially only be one recipe per promotion, but higher levels of the career bring two or three new recipes with them.

Finally, yourSupernatural Simswho’ve been enchanted by the Realm of Magic expansion are able tobrew potions with a cauldroneither at home or in the Magic Realm.
Up to three Sims can work together to brew potionsas a team to brew potions (up to four in a batch), and this helps your Sim build theirAlchemyas a Spellcaster.
However,potions may have negative effectsjust as often as they’ll have positive ones. In the table below, we’ve identified both the positive and negative effect of each potion your Spellcaster Sims can brew in The Sims 4: Realm of Magic.

Potion of Good Fortune
Your Sim may find simoleons or objects as they perform their daily tasks.
Your Sim gains an Embarassed moodlet and is clumsier than normal for a bit.
Rank One: Apprentice
Potion of Magical Aura
Your Sim gains a Happy moodlet for two hours, and their face glows a sparkly yellow.
Your Sim will gain an Embarassed moodlet for two to six hours, and the glow will instead be in their legs like a glitch.
Goldfish
Potion of Nausea
The Sim that drinks this potion gains an Uncomfortable moodlet for an hour or two, and they may vomit.
Dirt Frog
Potion of the Nimble Mind
Your Sim will build all their skills 50% quicker than normal for up to six hours.
Your Sim gains skills at half the rate they usually do, and they earn a Bored moodlet for two hours.

Potion of Emotional Stability
Your Sim gains a Happy moodlet for four to six hours.
Your Sim will receive a random new moodlet sporadically for a couple hours.
Potato
Potion of Forced Friendship
Your Sim gains a Confident moodlet for four to six hours.
Your Sim gains an Uncomfortable moodlet for up to two hours.
All curses will be removed from your Sim
Rank Four: Adept
Potion of Masterful Insults
Your Sim gains an Angry moodlet for four to six hours.
Your Sim gains a Happy moodlet for up to two hours.
Furium
Potion of Rejuvenation
Valerian Root
Potion of Immortality
Not only does it reset your Sim to the first day of their current life stage, but it will turn off aging for this Sim entirely.
Your Sim will turn into a ghost for up to 24 full hours, and will have a strong Tense moodlet.
Rank Five: Master
Potion of Prompt Resurrection
The Grim Reaper will resurrect this Sim should they die, and they’ll gain a Confident moodlet for up to two full days.
Your Sim will gain a Sad moodlet for up to two days, as if someone they know has just died instead.
Zombie Carl
Potion of the Transcendent Charmer
Your Sim gains a flirty moodlet for four to six hours, and romantic interactions succeed much more often.
Your Sim only gains a Confident moodlet for up to two hours instead.
Rose
Ruby
Just beware that bothmaking and/or consuming a potion may leave your Sim cursed. These curses can imbue some pretty nasty effects, so be sure tocure themas soon as you can.
