Summary

Mortal Kombat 1has atremendously varied and exciting lineup of 38 charactersspread between the main playable cast and their new Kameos, offering the best launch roster since Mortal Kombat 9. From the obligatory Scorpion and Sub-Zero to the fan favorites such as Smoke and Mileena, there is likely a fighter in the game for you if you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to the series.

However, there are just a few characters that are missing that aren’t confirmed for the first wave of DLC, making us wish for their arrival in future DLCs. While all we can do is hope for their appearance, we know they’re all worthy of entering the scene one last time as either a fighter or Kameo.

8Noob Saibot

While technically a reborn Bi-Han (Sub-Zero), Noob Saibot looks and plays entirely differently, making him a must for future DLC characters in Mortal Kombat 1.

Despite having a rather odd playstyle that some would consider somewhere between a rushdown and zoner, we feel giving him the tools available in this game would elevate him to the next level, especially when he can use a Kameo to help cover his glaring flaws.

7Fujin

We currently have the God of Fire (Liu Kang), the Thunder God (Raiden), and the Keeper of Time (Shang Tsung) in Mortal Kombat 1, so why not add the God of Wind to the mix with Fujin to round it all out?

This air-walking, combo juggling menace has tremendous potential in this game, especially since it feels far more expressive and ‘looser’ than the previous few entries in the series. Fujin ended up being one of the best characters near the end of Mortal Kombat 11’s lifecycle, and we feel he would maintain that momentum in MK1 if he were added to the roster.

6Sheeva

Being of the Draco Lineage of Shokans, Sheeva shares many similarities with Goro, who also belongs to the same lineage. However, they both play a bit differently and seeing as Goro is merely a Kameo in Mortal Kombat 1, we feel she would make a perfect addition to the main roster.

Sheeva is a heavy hitter with tremendous pressure, making her an absolute menace to deal with, which is more than half the reason we want to see how she’d translate over to the new systems and mechanics of Mortal Kombat 1. Sheeva and Goro teaming together to unleash absolute chaos on all the realms? Sign. Us. Up.

5Skarlet

Initially, an experiment created by Shao Kong via mixing the blood of countless perished warriors, Skarlet’s background would get slightly tweaked, having her now be the result of direct experiments on her by Shao Kong in attempts to grant her more powers.

Even with the slight change in her lore, Skarlet is still an absolute badass and a character that absolutely needs to appear in Mortal Kombat 1. Full stop. Her ability to use blood as a weapon and effortlessly navigate the arena is something special, and we would love to see what she could be capable of with the new systems and Kameos.

4Erron Black

Mortal Kombat 1 has many Kameos that offer zoner-like abilities, giving a helping hand to all the fighters that lack a projectile or any sort of ranged presence, which is oddly high. Not that there aren’t any zoners in the game, there just aren’t any near the level this menace was on.

So, to fix that ‘issue,’ Erron Black must dawn his cape and revolvers again to make people rage after getting shot a thousand times from across the arena for the entirety of the match. You may not like it, but we need to see what this crack shot would be like in MK1… for science.

3Ferra & Torr

Everything from Gods to experiments to descendants of Gods to Humans has traveled across many realms to meet and engage in battle in Mortal Kombat 1, giving you a glimpse of all the unique and varied races of the universe.

Still, even with all these realms meeting, we need to have Ferra & Torr back, who are an Unknown Symbiotic creation from the Outworld. They were first introduced in Mortal Kombat X and made a brief appearance in the Mortal Kombat 11 story, then vanished sight unseen since then. Give us our piggyback-riding aliens, NeatherRealm!

2Kabal

Debuting in Mortal Kombat 3, Kabal was one of the sickest characters then and remains that way even now, offering some of the coolest-looking outfits with gnarly hookswords that will carve his opponents up in the most grotesque ways imaginable.

Kabal was once considered top-tier in Mortal Kombat 11 but has since fallen drastically after several patches. However, his hard-hitting nature and ability to apply pressure were still present to the end, meaning he would likely carry that into Mortal Kombat 1, where he would shine brighter than ever, especially with the proper Kameos.

1Jade

Last but certainly not least is Jade, an Edenian that kicks just as much ass as Kitana, Sindel, Rain, and Tanya, and then some. Jade is such a fantastic character, and we were shocked beyond belief when we learned she would appear in Mortal Kombat 1 at launch or be included in the first wave of DLC fighters.

For the most part, Jade was consistently top tier in Mortal Kombat 11, so we can understand if people may not want her to be dominating the leaderboards in the latest title just yet. But when that time comes, don’t say we didn’t warn you!
