Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is coming toGame PassforXboxandPCon day one of release, joining the first game on the service. Better still, the first Citizen Sleeper is staying on Game Pass, with no plans to leave the library anytime soon.

This news comes from Xbox’s Gamescom showcase, which gave us a new look at Citizen Sleeper 2. Here, we’re introduced to our new location, Hexport, taking over from the station from the first game. Described as a “bustling waystation”, the community has built itself from nothing but abandoned solar reflectors. With a heavy focus on building our own crew, we can expect to see a lot of faces on Hexport - although not all of them will be friendly.

Once again, Citizen Sleeper 2 sees us play as a Sleeper: a corporate-owned android who is dependant on a substance that only the corpos can reliably provide. However, the trailer seems to imply our Sleeper has found a way to break this dependence, and the capitalist overlords aren’t happy about this one bit. If other Sleepers were to be able to gain this independence, their empire would all fall apart.

According to developer Jump Over the Age, Citizen Sleeper 2 will give us a “ramshackle ship” and the ability to recruit a crew. We’ll be faced to dealing with some kind of “system-wide crisis”, likely leading to multiple endings as the first game did. But all in all, it once again seems that all the Sleeper longs for his freedom.

“Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector expands upon the original Citizen Sleeper, continuing the wider narrative set up in the first game, and offering a larger area to explore,” says the developer. “Citizen Sleeper 2 will offer the same acclaimed and award-winning dice-based Tabletop RPG-inspired gameplay, alongside all new systems and mechanics that will provide more depth, complexity and challenge.”

We don’t have a release date for Citizen Sleeper 2 just yet, but at least we know that it has a home on Game Pass once again. If you haven’t given the first game out yet, you may check out our write-up for it from last year.Winning our Game of the Year awardover fierce competition from Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok, we wrote that, “Citizen Sleeper sweeps aside games with astronomical budgets to remind us why gaming is so powerful.” Features editor Ben Sledgealso gave it a perfect 5/5 score in his review, unable to fault the ambitious indie title.
