Whether you’re aiming to earn Swordbearer or theNecrochasmCatalyst, you’ll want to complete as many raid challenges as possible. This guide will cover how to complete all eight raid challenges for Crota’s End, and we’ll briefly explain how raid challenges work for newcomers to Destiny’s raiding scene.
How Raid Challenges Work
Every raid in Destiny 2 has a series of challenges that must be completed to earn that raid’s respective title. For Crota’s End,completing raid challenges awards Essence of the Oversoul and progress towards the Swordbearer title.
you may view your current challenge progress from the Triumphs tab. Select the “Journey” tab and select the Triumphs submenu. The “Legends” button will reveal all Triumphs relating to endgame activities like dungeons and raids. The second tab, labeled “raids,” will have a subsection dedicated to Crota’s End. You can also view your progress by viewing the Sworbearer title itself.

Triumphs are broken up into two different categories:
Titles require you to complete both the raid’s weekly and Triumph challenges. You’ll also have to clear the raid with clanmates and specific subclass elements, but those Triumphs are rather straightforward. For this guide, we’ll be listing all the encounter-specific challenges tied to Crota’s End.
Conservation Of Energy
Conservation of Energy:During the Abyss encounter, you may only light one lantern between every Chalice of Light deposit.
Weekly?
Yes
The Conservation of Energy weekly challenge is fairly straightforward. After depositing the Chalice of Light on a pedestal, you may only light one lantern. This means that your fireteam will need to run past multiple unlit lanterns during the encounter, likely incurring x10 Weight of Darkness. This is why you shouldnotattempt this challenge and Feather-Light in the same run.
As for navigating the abyss itself, you can greatly speed up this encounter withEager Edge Swords and Strand. All Strand subclasseshave access to theGrapplegrenade and can spawn Tangles. Create a Tangle from a debuffed Thrall, throw it down the path, thengrappleonto it mid-flight to travel a great distance. You can alternate between grapples and Eager Edge swings to quickly navigate the labyrinth.

If your team consists of LFG Guardians or more casual players, we recommend taking it slow instead. Assign an order to Chalice swaps and stick together. If a distant lantern is emitting no light at all, a Chalice pedestal is nearby. Clear communication should make this a fairly easy challenge.

Feather-Light
Feather-Light:Complete the Abyss encounter in the Stills without letting any player reach 10 stacks of Weight of Darkness.
No
Feather-Light is easily the hardest raid challenge in Crota’s End, arguably the hardest Triumph Bungie’s released in years.Your fireteam must beat the Abyss encounter without a single person reaching x10 Weight of Darkness. This will require coordination with your entire fireteam, not just a few select members.
Before you start, assign each person a number. This will determine when they will grab the Chalice of Light during the encounter. The first person will start the encounter, the second person will grab the Chalice from them, etc. This will keep buff swaps predictable and consistent. We alsodiscourage the use of Strand and Eager Edge Swordsfor this Triumph. If one person uses it to get ahead of the team, it’ll place pressure on everyone else to speedrun.

With an order in place, start the encounter. Whoever is the first person to grab the Chalice will also be the first person to Enlighten a lantern. Charge the Chalice, swap the buff, and then immediately light the lantern. Wait for the Weight of Darkness stacks to fully decay, then move to the next lantern.Do not skip any lanterns. You’ll want to play it safe and light every lantern on the path, killing as many Thrall as possible to speed up the Chalice’s charge rate. Add clear weapons likeSunshotandTrinity Ghoulare excellent here.
Ultimately, your goal is tostick together and play it safe.Light every lantern you may, don’t split up, and use support Exotics or Aspects if possible to keep your team safe.Banner of War, Healing Grenades, and Devour are all fantastic tools for staying alive. This will take quite a few tries to nail down, but when your team starts to power the bridge at the end of the abyss, your fireteam will be in the clear. Good luck.

Precarious Balance
Precarious Balance:During the Bridge encounter, players may only cross while no one is standing on a construction plate.
Precarious Balance is a weekly challenge for the Bridge encounter.Players may only cross the bridge while it’s actively decaying, which occurs when no one is standing on a bridge plate. For clarity, anyone standing under an Annihilator Totem willnotvoid this challenge; only the bridge plate needs to be vacant when someone crosses.

This challenge is more or less a communication challenge. We recommendpassing the Chalice to every player before you start crossing the bridge. This ensures that you don’t need to juggle the Chalice later, making callouts less cluttered. When someone has the Sword and is ready to cross, have the plate defender step off their plate right as the Sword carrier starts crossing the bridge. The Sword user will have to jump across part of the chasm to reach the other side. Repeat as needed until everyone’s across, then beat the encounter as normal.
Threatening Reach
Threatening Reach:Defeat all Swordbearers in the Oversoul Throne Bridge encounter from the opposite side of the chasm.
Threatening Reach is a Triumph challenge for the Bridge encounter, requiring your fireteam tokill all Swordbearers from the opposite side of the bridge. This effectively means that whoever is in charge of the Chalice of Light must kill the first Swordbearer, and those in charge of plates or Annihilator Totems must also kill Swordbearers.Have everyone bringXenophageor a good Sniper Rifle before attempting this.

Once the encounter begins, you’ll want to Enlighten every player as usual. Once a Swordbearer spawns, you’ll want the current Chalice holder to cross the bridge to kill the Knight, then run back to swap the Chalice with someone. Once the Chalice is passed, someone will grab the Sword and both players will cross.Whoever crosses the bridge will now have to kill Swordbearers. Call out when Swordbearers spawn, then have the opposite end kill them with their favorite long-range weapon. The rest of the encounter plays out like normal.

Equal Vessels
Equal Vessels:During the Ir Yut encounter, every player must receive the Chalice of Light before it can be claimed by the same person again.
Ir Yut
Challenge
Every player must receive the Chalice at least once before the same person can grab it again.
Similar to most buff-swapping challenges, Equal Vessels requires your entire fireteam toreceive the Chalice at least once before the same person can grab it again. This is easily accomplished by creating a Chalice rotation before you start the encounter. Assign each player a number that indicates when they’ll grab the Chalice of Light. Rotate the buff as needed, and proceed with the encounter as normal. If your team is quick, it’s possible to kill Ir Yut before swapping the Chalice between every Guardian.Remember to swap the Chalice during Ir Yut’s DPS phase.

Communal Rites
Communal Rites:During each round of the Ir Yut encounter, at least one player must expunge Ir Yut.
During every DPS phase, one player must expunge their Enlightened buff on Ir Yut.

Crota’s End has a unique mechanic that allows Enlightened players to expunge their buff on a boss. Holding the interact input while near the boss will cause your Guardian to explode, dealing a sizable amount of damage to the boss. For Communal Rites, you simply need to expunge the Enlighten buff at least once per Ir Yut DPS phase.Only one person needs to expunge their buff.
All your team needs to do isEnlighten one more person before killing the Wizards. This additional Enlightened player will then interact with Ir Yut mid-DPS to expunge their buff. Remember to do this during every DPS phase, and you should have this challenge finished in a couple of tries.
All For One
All for One:While fighting Crota, his shields must be destroyed shortly after he receives damage from a Hive Sword.
Crota, Son of Oryx
Crota’s shield must be fully destroyed shortly after he receives damage.
All for One, a weekly rotating challenge, encourages your fireteam to coordinate Hive Sword attacks during the Crota fight.Once Crota’s shields receive damage, they must be broken within a few seconds. This means that you’ll need to coordinate at least two Sword users to strike at Crota simultaneously. Those attempting this on Master will want at least three Hive Swords to be safe. The rest of the encounter plays out like normal.Be sure at least one extra player is Enlightened to break the Oversoul.
Buffs and Debuffs
You can debuff Crota withTractor Cannonto increase the damage he receives from Hive Swords. Buffing your Sword wielders with Radiant or Weapons of Light is also recommended to make the DPS check easier.
Singular Sensation
Singular Sensation:Complete the Crota, Son of Oryx encounter with only one player Enlightened at a time.
Singular Sensation is a Triumph challenge that requires you tobeat the Crota encounter while only one person is Enlightened at a time.Beating this challenge will require you to closely coordinate Chalice buff swaps and Sword pickups. In essence, whoever becomes Enlightened must immediately kill a Swordbearer and grab their Sword.By the time they grab a Sword, the Chalice should be close to charged.
You’ll want to repeat this process until you have two Swords and one spare Enlightened player for the Oversoul.Once your Oversoul player is Enlightened, have the Chalice user deposit their Chalice. You’ll find the pedestal just outside of Ir Yut’s Rally Flag room. If you don’t one-phase Crota, you can grab the Chalice from the same spot once the DPS phase is over. Repeat as needed until Crota’s defeated.
