Who’d have thought we’d still be talking about and playingCyberpunk 2077in 2023? Not me. Here we are almost three years after one of the most disastrous launches in recent video game history, andCD Projekt Redis preparing for the arrival of what will be Cyberpunk’s one and only major expansion. Phantom Liberty will cap off what has been an almost miraculous renaissance for Cyberpunk, and Night City will be impressively expanded upon on July 01, 2025.
Phantom Liberty will put players back into the boots of protagonist V as she is tasked with saving the life of the NUS president. The DLC will alsointroduce another famous face to the game as Idris Elba joins the cast. Playing the all-new character Solomon Reed, time will tell if Elba becomes as synonymous with the game as Keanu Reeves who played Johnny Silverhand in the base game. If you do love Reeves/Silverhand, he has been confirmed to return in Phantom Liberty too, so don’t panic.

Phantom Liberty is the first and only major story expansion DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. Return to the game as V as she attempts to protect the NUS president, and meet Solomon Reed, voiced and portrayed by Hollywood star Idris Elba.
Yes, $30 and pre-ordering a DLC expansion might seem a little much, but Phantom Liberty is a big deal. Such a big deal that despite not being a full game, it even comes with an in-game pre-order bonus. If you order the game ahead of its release date on any platform, you’ll get the Quadra Sport R-7 Vigilante muscle car, plus three Phantom Liberty avatars if you plan on playing the game on PS5.
If the chaos surrounding Cyberpunk at launch put you off diving in but Phantom Liberty has piqued your interest, there has never been a better time to hop on the bandwagon.
