Disney’s Lorcanais known for its unique color identity with its ink system. Since Lorcana decks need to be at least 60 cards, and the pool of cards is quite small as of The First Chapter, you tend to go straight for the maximum of two inks in a deck, leading to unique deckbuilding combinations.

Amethyst has many cards that can interact with your discard pile and return cards back to your hand while simultaneously drawing your entire deck. Here are the best amethyst cards in The First Chapter, Lorcana’s first set.

10Dr. Facilier, Charlatan

Dr. Facilier - Charlatan seems like a weak card on paper. With no Strength and four Willpower for two ink, there are many cards with better stat lines than this Dr. Facilier.

What makes this card good is that its cheap cost makes it easier to Shift into the bigger seven ink Dr. Facilier, which can return banished characters to the hand.

Being that Lorcana is a 60-card deck where the vast majority of them can also be used as ink, there is plenty of room for cards with niche use like this.

9Dr. Facilier, Remarkable Gentleman

Arguably the better Dr. Facilier. This card lets you peep at the top two cards of your deck whenever you play a song, letting you plan out your future turns with ease. Amethyst cards have plenty of draw effects, making Dr. Facielier, Remarkable Gentleman an excellent card to rearrange the top of your deck to your preference.

Unlike the two ink Dr. Facilier, this one has a stat line of two Strength and four Willpower, without needing theChallenger effectthat the two-drop needs to meet that Strength number.

8Elsa, Spirit Of Winter

Elsa, Spirit Of Winter is one of the strongest cards in Amethyst solely due to her stun ability. When Elsa comes into play she can exert two characters and they can’t readied at the start of their next turn, letting you challenge as you please or ignore them until the next turn to freely quest.

She costs a hefty eight ink, but she can Shift for six, making a better midgame option due to the cheaper Elsa cards available that also come packed with amazing stun effects.

7Friends On The Other Side

“I play Pot Of Greed, which allows me to draw two extra cards from my deck!”

There is a reason why thatYu-Gi-Oh!quote haunts every TCG player in the world. Draw two cards is just too good of an effect. AfterPot Of Greedwas banned in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, other card games have followed by making these simple draw cards a bit more balanced with higher costs or a downside to the card.

While Friends On The Other Side costs three Ink, the Song mechanic in Lorcana means this card can be played for free as long as you have a character with a cost of three Ink or higher already in play.

6Jafar, Keeper Of Secrets

Whether it is drawing cards with songs like Friends On The Other Side or returning banished characters to your hand, Amethyst loves to have a big hand and with Lorcana’s no hand size limit, you are free to draw to your hearts content.

Now you have all of these cards in your hand, but you’re able to only place one ink in your Inkwell per turn, and you don’t have enough ink to play your entire hand, so what do you do? Easy! Play Jafar! This card has zero Strength but he earns one per card in your hand. This card can quickly get out ofhand.

5Magic Mirror

While songs, like Friends On The Other Side, can get you two extra cards immediately, some might say that having a draw engine on board might be more important.

Related:Disney Lorcana: Beginner’s GuideEvery turn, you can exert this card and pay four ink to draw another card. Amethyst wants you to draw a ton of cards, so paying four ink when you have an already established board is a small price to pay.

4Maleficent, Biding Her Time

Hands down, one of the best one-drop cards in the game. While this version of the evil witch Maleficent is only a vanilla card, her stat line and cost make her an easy addition to any Amethyst deck. Maleficent is a one-drop, one Strength, one Willpower, that quests for two.

Not a lot of decks have an early threat like Maleficent in their arsenal, but Amethyst makes great use of her with other cards being able to bring her back to your hand for later plays.

3Mickey Mouse, Wayward Sorcerer

This Mickey Mouse card is one of those cards that is really good, but its potential is not fully realized. Wayward Sorcerer lets you play Broom characters for one less Ink. Sadly, there is only one card in The First Chapter that has the Broom characteristic.

Mickey Mouse’s effect being so generic makes this an excellent card to have in your collection for when the time comes when Ravensburger releases more Broom cards.

2Ursula, Power Hungry

Ursula is one of the coolest villains in all of Disney, so it only makes sense for her to have a powerful card in Lorcana. A whopping seven-drop card, Ursula can slow down your opponent by taking away a lore from them and giving you an advantage by drawing a card.

Ursula is a huge body to get over since her Willpower is eight and she can quest for three, but one of the best things about this card is that it removes lore from each opponent, instead of just choosing one.

1White Rabbit’s Pocket Watch

On its own, White Rabbit’s Pocket Watch is an excellent item to have since Amethyst doesn’t have a lot of removal. This item lets you pay one Ink to give one of your charactersRushfor the turn, letting them challenge on the turn they are played.

This item pairs quite nicely with Mickey Mouse’s Brooms since when they get banished, Mickey can return them to your hand, giving you many smaller bodies that you’re able to throw at characters to get them off the board.
