The stand out of the series is definitely the roster of anthropomorphic animal villagers that you can interact and befriend. With over 400 unique villagers with their own distinct personalities, some of these critters would make better real-life neighbors than others.
10Cookie
The lovable dog neighbor is a real treat. With her puppy eyes (no pun intended) and sweet personality, Cookie would make for the loveliest IRL neighbor. An avid dancer, Cookie is sure to throw the best parties where you can dance the night away. However, Cookie is mindful of her neighbors, so these parties will not keep anyone up.
Since she loves to shop, you can expect lots of shopping sprees, whether it is home decor, furniture, or clothes. You will love living next door to Cookie, but your wallet will not.
9Roald
The jock penguin, Roald, is a down-to-earth neighbor. Despite being a jock type, he is not one to flex his athleticism over others. Instead, donned in his iconic flannel, Roald is more of an outdoorsy type. He is the kind of neighbor to organize group hiking trips and make trail mix for everyone.
With Roald, you are sure to get your steps in andbump into him on nearby footpaths. Do not be fooled by his rugged exterior, as Roald is a pro at belly dancing.
8Maple
Sweet like her name, Maple is a neighbor that will make you feel right at home. This cub type is skilled at writing letters. You can expect a birthday card in your letterbox from Maple every year. As the eldest of four siblings, Maple has a maternal personalitymaking all her “hey honey” greetings feel like hugs.

With a goal of becoming an architect, you’re able to expect Maple to take good care of her home. She is the neighbor you can pop around to whenever you are having a bad day. A hot beverage, serene plants, and soothing lullabies are sure to await you over at chez Maple.
7Marshal
Though Marshal may give you the bombastic side-eye from time to time, his smug personality type makes him an amicable, easy-to-like neighbor. The gentleman squirrel will ask you pleasantries about your day from his front porch without being too nosy or too talkative. A win for the introverts.
Marshal is sure to invite you over to his humble abode occasionally to try his fancy Arabica coffee beans exported from the rainforests of Ethiopia. If you are a coffee lover then your taste buds will be delighted over at Marshal’s where you may expect a fancy brew of a coffee you have never heard before. Though Marshal can be a bit of a snob sometimes, his cordial behavior means he will be the perfect no-fuss neighbor.
6Shino
The peppy Japanesedeer villagerwill always be excited to see you around. A force of optimism, Shino will always brighten your day. Her name is a portmanteau of two Japanese words that accurately sum her up, Shika (“deer”) and Noh (a type of Japanese theater). Shino has a flair for the dramatics and is the type of neighbor to know all the gossip on the island.
Frequently spotted reading the latest issue of Ms. Nintendique, Shino aspires to become famous. Though Shino can be a little sensitive to other types of villagers, she has a short attention span. This deer holds no grudges, saving all the drama for the stage.
5Marty
Marty is the perfect low-maintenance amicable neighbor. As a lazy cub type, his interests revolve around relaxation, food, and anything nerdy. He is the neighbor whose barbeque smell will waft into your house on those sticky Summer evenings. He is sure to pop his head over the fence and ask if you want some of his homemade hotdogs.

Expect to go on fishing trips and lots of food-related activities with this cub. His laid-back lifestyle is ideal to help you slow down and enjoy the little things in life, like superheroes. As he dreams of becoming a baker, Marty is likely to bring you loafs of freshly made bread and tons of pastries.
4Merengue
With her head looking like a sweet delicacy, Merengue is a kind rhino who is mean to none. Her positive outlook on life puts a smile on everyone’s face. Hercatchphrasebeing “Life is a piece of cake”, little bothers this rhino.
Merengue dreams of becoming a pastry chef, hence why she is always dressed the part. Having her as a neighbor means lots of ‘failed’ desserts being sent your way. She is sure to make her way to your heart through your stomach first.
3Raymond
The gentleman Raymond is a sophisticated and bookish cat. Despite being asmug villagerin his glasses and waistcoat, Raymond is kind to all. His name, meaning “advice” or “council giver”, accurately describes his nature.
As an intellectual, Raymond is the go-to person for advice, be it how much water your Philodendron needs, or what book you should read next. You can expect eloquent evenings sipping wine and listening to Vivaldi on his vintage phonograph.
2Bob
Everyone needs a Bob in their life. This lazy cat has appeared in every game of the Animal Crossing series and with a good reason. Bob is the laid back, chill neighbor that always minds his business and is up for anything.

With her skills lying in home repair, Fuchsia will adamantly insist on assisting you with any household maintenance. Since she dreams of becoming a makeup artist, you can expect her to use you as a model. Truly Fuchsia is the neighbor of dreams becoming your friend, protector, and guide when you need it most.
