Baldur’s Gate 3is one of those games that left a powerful mark on its launch, and there are far too many reasons for that. It’s a magnificent game, with hundreds of hours of pure joy, for starters, with quality in nearly all of its details. But one thing that still stands out is how amazing the voice actors are.
Between the voices you can choose for yourself, the excellent portrayal done by your companions, and the many villains you’ll find during your playthrough, the cast behind these characters is a massive part of the game’s charm. So, let’s talk about the people behind the voices.

Updated on July 18, 2025, by Lucas Olah:When we mentioned how much the voice actors stood out here, we weren’t kidding. The whole cast did a fantastic job, not just the protagonist, antagonists, and the core group of companions. Even side characters who appear a few times only manage to steal the little time they have for themselves, becoming extremely memorable, all thanks to the beautiful writing and compelling performance behind them. Thus, let’s also talk about the supporting cast and how entertaining they are.
Potential spoilers relating to plot and the characters.

1The Voices Of Tav And The Dark Urge
It’s You!
When creating your character, whether it’s Tav orthe ‘Durge,‘you have eight voices to choose from, ranging from soft or higher-pitched voices, giving your character a more innocent or curious side or a more intimidating or lower-pitched voice.
Sadly, the game’s credits don’t specify which voice is which among the actors and the number that comes with each voice during character creation, with the people behind the voices credited as ‘Tadpole Adventurer.’ The actors are, respectively:
Despite that, we know Josh Wichard is Voice one, and Neil Roberts is Voice five, as well as the default voice for the Dark Urge — the one you hear when you choose to play his backstory.
2Amelia Tyler - Narrator
Authority
Amelia is the voice you’ll hear the most throughout the game as she narrates everything, giving you extra information about what is going on or highlighting your amazing or questionable decisions.
Amelia worked with Larian Studios before as Malady fromDivinity: Original Sin 2. Along with that, she’s Wenduag from Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and she’s Hecate inHades 2.
3Devora Wilde - Lae’zel
Bing Bong’s Assassin
Vlaakith’s cold-hearted soldieris amazingly performed by Devora, who portrays both the hardened warrior she is and a surprisingly soft and romantic side that you get to see if you choose to flirt with the Githyanki.
Devora has been in a few games, such asCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty,Battlefield 2042, andTotal War: Warhammer 3.
4Jennifer English - Shadowheart
God’s Favorite Princess
One of the mostadored companions is Shadowheart, and not just because she’s the party’s dedicated healer. It’s also due to her performance, done by Jennifer English, which is spectacular from beginning to end.
She has two other roles in the gaming industry, asElden Ring’s Latenna and Divinity: Original Sin 2’s Leya — meaning she also worked with Larian Studios before.
5Neil Newbon - Astarion
The Greatest Vampire In The World
Astarion is quite a unique character, which is saying a lot, considering all the characters in the game. He stands out because of his charming performance and the powerful and dramatic moments he may go through depending on your choices. His performance as Astarion even won at the Game Awards - it’s that good, especially considering how solid the competition was.
This isn’t his first game, either. He’s also Karl Heisenberg in theResident Evil series, Elijah Kamski from Detroit: Become Human, and Isaac Johanson fromDeliver Us Mars, among other roles.
6Tim Downie - Gale Dekarios
The Wizard Of Waterdeep
Thehighly devoted spellcasteris masterfully portrayed by Tim Downie, who is not versed in the gaming industry, with Baldur’s Gate being his first gig — a great start, by the way.
He participated in many TV series, such as Outlander and Toast of London, and was even in Paddington — likely the last place you’d expect to find Gale.
7Theo Solomon - Wyll Ravengard
The Blade Of Frontiers
A proper party wouldn’t be complete without an amazing goody-two-shoes. Wyllperforms this taskwith a brilliant portrayal of the character, being a wholesome person despite the cost of hisHeroism.
Theo doesn’t have a big repertoire of previous works like others here yet — we can’t wait to see more of him in other games or other media. His most famous works are the TV series Temple and Vera.
8Samantha Béart - Karlach Cliffgate
Formerly Of Baldur’s Gate, Recently Of Hell
This Barbarian with a heart of goldsurprised most of us due to her gorgeous and positive portrayal expertly mixed with her anger. Samantha certainly understood the task and performed it brilliantly.
She’s also been the player character fromDemon’s Souls, Thomasina Bateman in The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow, and a few characters in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.
9Emma Gregory - Minthara
The Most Complicated Companion To Obtain
Mintharais another rather unique character compared to the roster, being an evil Paladin who is also extremely insightful and nuanced, all thanks to the incredible work of Emma Gregory.
She’s another actor returning from Original Sin 2 and has minor roles inStar Wars Battlefront 2. She’s also famous as Lavinia, from Angels of Death.
10Dave Jones - Halsin
Faerûn’s Most Ripped Druid
The first Druid you get to recruit isHalsin, a gentle giantwho is very helpful in Act 2. The excellent Dave Jones is responsible for his calm and lovable demeanor.
He’s been in a few video games before, such as The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow along with Samantha,Company of Heroes 3,Planet Zoo, and Diablo Immortal.
