Honkai: Star Railreleases plenty of new events to keep its players busy, but there’s something quite unique about the Aetherium Wars. Apart from being a permanent event that can be played by future players as well, you get to try out brand-new abilities in the form of Aether Spirits in this.

Aether Spirits are essentially the saved data of various enemies you’re able to encounter in the open world, and you can use this data to battle the NPCs and main characters in the event. It’s extremely important to know everything about the Aether Spirits if you want to finish Aetherium Wars.

Aether Spirit Vulnerabilities

As a Honkai: Star Rail player, you might be used to the Weakness system where characters lose their shield whenever you attack them with the correct combat type, but the battle system for Aetherium Wars works a little differently. In this game mode, you’ll find Aether Spirits having one of the three types: Humanoid, Mechanical, or Aberrant.

When an Aether Spirit attacks an enemy that has the type it’s strong against, you’ll deal 1.5 times more damage. However, the damage reduces to0.8 times the original damageif you attack an enemy with the type you’re weak to. you may easily tell when you attack the correct enemy since the damage numbers have the same effect as a Crit hit in a normal battle.

You can also see somearrows pointing upward or downward above an enemy namewhile attacking them.

The upward arrow means they’ll take more damage while the downward arrow means the opposite.

Checking out the enemy lineup’s Aether Spirit types becomesquite important during the Final Showdown or normal NPC battles. You’d ideally want your Overlord Aether Spirit to be of the type that directly counters the enemy Overlord Aether Spirit.

How To Get Aether Spirits

When you do the initial quest of Aetherium Wars, you’ll unlock your first Aether Spirit in the form of a Warp Trotter. You’ll be able to choose the name of this Trotter from a select few names. You’ll also get the Blaze Out Of Space Spirit when you continue to the Corridor of Fading Echoes part of the quest.

Other than these two,you have two general ways tounlock the rest of the Spirits:

Aether Spirit Abilities, Explained

Once again, the skill set for Aether Spirits is a little different and less complicated than normal characters sinceeach Spirit only has four abilities:

Description

Basic Attack

This is a normal attack that does the same percentage of damage for almost all Aether Spirits at the maximum level. However, some Spirits can have a buffed Basic Attackin certain instances.

Skill

This is the bread and butter of Aether Spirits' kit since each unit’s Skill is unique. Some Skills are themost valuable part of the Spirit’s kit while others aren’t that good.

Ultimate

Whenever you use a Basic Attack or a Skill, you gain one Energy. Aether SpiritUltimates can be activated once you fill their Energy. Much like normal combat, you can activate an Ultimate even when it’s not your turn.

However, youdon’t get Energy when you get attacked by the enemies.

Talent

Talent is a passive ability given to every Aether Spirit to bring their entire kit together. It’simportant to read this part of the kitsince it can change the unit’s play style completely.

How To Make A Team With Aether Spirits

Once again, much like the normal combat of Honkai: Star Rail, you’re able to have up to four Aether Spirits in the battle at a time. However, some of your Aether Spirits are considered Overlords, andyou can only have one of these in a team. The Overlords can be seen with a separate yellow-colored background when you’re adding them in the team setup area.

With one Overlord, you can have three other normal units that generally vary based on the enemies you’re against. For example, if the enemy Overlord is Mechanical-type while other smaller enemies are Aberrant-type,you’d want to use Humanoid Overlord with Mechanical allies.
