What Does The Research Lab Do?

Before you can craft an item, whether it be optics and lasers for your weapons or cooking up a meatloaf at a Cooking Station, you’ll need to unlock how to craft it in the Research Lab.

The Research Lab features five research categories:

You must level up your skills to carry out higher-level projects. At the start of the game, you can research all level-one projects (as long as you have the resources available).

To complete a research project, you arerequired to deposit resources and materials into the Research Lab. Each item that isdeposited will be consumed.

For example, if you wanted to learn how to cook Meatloaf, you would need to complete theOld Earth Cuisinelevel one project, requiring that you deposit the following items into the Research Lab:
