Fae Farmgets plenty of things right in the farming sim genre, and one of those delightful inclusions is the ability to auto-swap between tools to handle different tasks involved in maintaining a farm. But even that won’t be enough to handle some of Fae Farm’s strongest lumber, ores, and foraging items.
That’s where your tool upgrades come in! Visit Cinder the Blacksmith with some Florins and ingots to have her transform your tools into stronger versions to gain access to new resources throughout the game. Below, we’ve got all the info you need to upgrade tools in Fae Farm.

Updated on July 26, 2025:Now that the Coasts of Croakia DLC is out for Fae Farm, we’re updating our Fae Farm tool upgrades guide to include the Critter Conch as well.
How To Upgrade Tools In Fae Farm
When you first begin playing Fae Farm, Mayor Merritt gives you a set of starter tools when you head to your Homestead for the first time. These are to help youcollect resources, tend to crops, clear dungeons, and more.
And these introductory tools are fine at first, but before you can really dive into the thick ofthe Saltwater Mines,Cleo sends you to Cinder the Blacksmithto upgrade your Pickax once you’vegotten some Copper from Saltwater Mines.

If you haven’t met her already, this introduces you toCinder, who runs herSmithery in East Towndown by the docks, near the bridge over to the Beach.
Not only will Cinder have severalmining-related Jobsto give you, but she’s where you’ll go toupgrade all of your tools. In exchange for bothingots and Florins, Cinder can upgrade your tools progressively throughout Fae Farm.

Upgrades for each tool in Fae Farm add new abilities related to that tool:
You’ll run into roadblocks if your tools aren’t strong enough for a particular task - your farmer struggles and a pop-up dialogue appears to recommend upgrading your tools in Fae Farm.
Smelt Ores Into Ingots At The Stone Forge
Your upgrades are limited to the resources you currently have. The game’sdungeons have two ores unique to each locationspecifically, meaning you’ll find yourself doing a lot of backtracking if you don’tstock up on ores while you’re in the dungeons.
Once you’ve collected the ores you need, you have tosmelt them into ingots using the Stone Forge. This can be constructed on your Homestead for25 Stone and ten Coal.
From there, you’ll needten ores to make one ingot. They take time to smelt, but once they’re finished, collect the ingotfrom the Stone Forge and head back to Cinder. Give her your ingot and Florins, and you’ll walk away with a freshly upgraded tool.
