Turns out that not only are video game movies good now, but people also want to recreate scenes from their favorite games usingLego. Much like the movies,Mariohas been the most successful in that particular arena.Nintendotested the Lego waters in 2020 and now you’re able to build almost the entire Mushroom Kingdom out of toy bricks.Sonichas followed suit, and aftergetting more sets to join the first one that launched last year, images of a brand new one coming in 2024 have surfaced online.
Pokemonremains one of Lego’s bigger video game omissions since The Pokemon Company has a toy brick deal with Mattel’s Mega.
The first indicator of which direction Sonic Lego will be heading next came whenan image showing Minifigures of Shadow, Knuckles, and Rougewas shared on social media. It has now been confirmed that Shadow will be getting his very own set.TailsChannelhas shared images of the Shadow Escape Lego set, apparently launching as soon as January 2024 and probably selling for $20.99.
Do bear in mind that this isn’t an official reveal courtesy of Sonic or Lego, so the release date and price, while potentially accurate, haven’t been set in stone. As for what comes with the set alongside the Shadow Minifigure, the hedgehog can be seen riding his Dark Rider motorcycle. First seen in Shadow the Hedgehog, the bike doesn’t last long before Shadow rides it directly into a soldier, causing it to explode.
Shadow’s Escape Sonic Lego Set
Shadow has been added to Sonic’s Lego collection via this Shadow’s Escape Lego set. Included with the set is a Shadow Minifigure, Dark Rider Motorcycle, and Rhinobot, complete with a Cucky inside. The tank Shadow breaks free from is also included.
Also included in the set is a Lego recreation of the tank in which Shadow is kept by his creator, Gerald Robotnik, the grandfather of Dr. Robotnik. The tank was seen in the credits ofSonic the Hedgehog 2with Shadow inside, strongly suggesting he will be the next character added to the Sonic universe after Idris Elba’s Knuckles made his debut in the last movie. Completing the set is a Rhinobot complete with a Cucky Minifiure trapped inside it.
Since Shadow is getting a set, it seems likely Knuckles and Rouge will be getting them too. The Minifigures coming to the collection in 2024 likely reflect the other Sonic content coming our way next year. Shadow’s inclusion is because of Sonic 3 hitting cinemas in December 2024, and Knuckles whose show is coming soon to Paramount Plus. Fingers crossed Rouge’s inclusion means she will be the next character to join Sonic’s live-action cast.
