Character customization is an important part ofBaldur’s Gate 3, especially when it comes to selecting a background. Your background will determine who your character is and how they become inspired by interacting with the world. While there are many ways to gain Inspiration, your background ultimately determines what actions you’ll need to take.
There are devious backgrounds that promote crime and there are vigilant backgrounds that promote heroism. Being a Folk Hero means standing up for the little guy and defending the helpless. If these are actions you’re likely to take, then gaining Inspiration as a Folk Hero will be a piece of cake.

What Is A Folk Hero?
One of the backgrounds you can select in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the Folk Hero. This is a great option for you if you want to be achampion of the common people, making good-aligned decisions andsaving who you canwherever you go.
Monsters and tyrants stand no chanceagainst you, as you topple them toprotect the helplessand the innocent. Through your good deeds,your legend growsto highlight your feats. Taking action to be a hero will gain Inspiration that you may use later.

You canuse Inspiration to avoid combat, open new dialogue options, andearn unique rewardsfrom NPCs. By being a champion of the common folk, you’llact honorably and live up to your renown. You canonly hold four Inspirationat a time, so use it wisely.
If you already have four Inspiration, any additional Inspiration will be converted into experience.
How To Gain Folk Hero Inspiration
In every act, there aremultiple opportunities to earn Inspirationand change the tides in your favor. You may not be able todiscover all of themin one go, but unlike other backgrounds, most of the Folk Hero’s Background Goals don’t conflict.
Save the deep gnomes from Nere and the duergar.
Rescued from the Flames
Protect Arabella from Kagha and her serpent.
Guardian of the Forgotten
Protector of the Small
Saved by a Thread
Break out and save all of the Moonrise prisoners.
Find, save, and bring Arabella to your camp.
Act Two
Meeting of Fates
Side with either Isobel or Marcus during the confrontation in Last Light.
Meet Jaheira and stay in her good books.
Empathy for the Fallen
End of the Tribunal
Save Valeria and end the Murder Tribunal.
Act Three
In Need of a Hero
Successfully rescue all of the Gondians from the Steel Watch Foundry.
Defeat Lorroakan and let the Nightsong execute her vengeance.
How To Best Use Folk Hero Inspiration
Using Inspiration toreroll a failed Ability Checkwill help you progress through the game smoothly,avoiding unnecessary combatand helping the people around you.
If your character doesn’t have the Folk Hero background, you canbringthe warlock, Wyll, with you toearn Inspiration by completing these goals. If your character does have this background, you candouble up to earn twice as muchwithout expending extra effort.
