There is a lot to love about sitting back and enjoying yet another epic adventure in your favorite video games. You can experience an entirely new world, have exciting characters become like family, and engage in combat you’ve never seen before.

Of course, sometimes as you’re enjoying all of that, the game goes a bit too far in certain ways and becomes absolutely hilarious. It’s not hard for most games to cross a line and enter a world of bizarre decisions and absolutely ridiculous moves for the characters, and you probably already have a few games that fall into that trap in mind.
10The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
While it may be one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time,Ocarina of Timecan certainly take itself a bit too seriously at times. The entire adventure can feel like a bit of a stretch when you remember that Link travels through time.
That may not sound like a bad thing at first, but the only thing that’s changing is his body. Realistically,Link is just a nine-year-old kid in a 17-year-old’s bodythe whole time. Playing the game with that in mind really makes the whole experience a lot funnier. Although, why Link would have no issues in the Shadow Temple is beyond me.

9Resident Evil Code: Veronica
If I’m being honest, there are probably a few differentResident Evilgames that could fit in this slot. The classic survival horror genre has tried to keep zombies interesting, and sometimes that involves some wild stuff.
Claire and Chris are great in this game (for the most part) — it’s really Wesker, the Ashfords, and Steve that make it ridiculous. Steve yelling about his father, nearly kissing a sleeping Claire, and pretty much all the wackiness around the villains make this game a beautiful over-the-top mess.

8Sonic Adventure 2
When your game features a couple of speedy hedgehogs that eventually turn super saiyan, it’s probably fair to say things have gotten a bit ridiculous. The entirety ofSonic Adventure 2takes itself so seriously and is so proud to do so that the experience becomes hilarious.

That might be why the game is so beloved, even ifEscape From The Cityis singlehandedly enough to do that. Sometimes you’re running around, sometimes you’re piloting mechs, and sometimes you’re digging for emeralds, but anytime a cutscene starts, you know things are about to get wild.
7Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night
The ridiculous nature ofCastlevania: Symphony Of The Nightcomes in really quickly, essentially right when you first meet Dracula. The line delivery for Richter and Dracula lets you know exactly what you’re in for in this classic Metroidvania, and that’s absolutely a great thing.
Right after that,Alucard has all of his equipment robbed from himby the literal embodiment of death like he’s being bullied in the schoolyard. Sure, pure awesomeness ensues immediately after, but the ridiculousness does return pretty much anytime a character speaks.

6Dark Souls
It’s hard to not chuckle every once and a while when you playDark Soulsbecause if you don’t, your television and controller might not be capable of surviving the experience. There’s just something so funny about epic boss music starting up only to end in five seconds for the eighth time after you’ve beenbullied by a Dark Souls boss yet again.
The lore itself can be interesting and bleak, but the average person who plays through the game is going to have a bit of a laugh when they have to fight a magic-spewing butterfly and something called Ceaseless Discharge.

5Devil May Cry
The action featured in this game and throughout the rest of theDevil May Cryseries may be a ton of fun, but there is something that ties all of these games together perfectly: their stories. The original Devil May Cry may be loved by everyone who’s played it, but it’s pure cheesy ridiculousness.
The game so badly wants Dante to be the coolest guy in every room that it’s hard to not see him as one of the biggest dorks around. That’s not a negative thing either because Dante is fantastic — he can just be a bit much, especially when he’s talking about dark souls needing to be filled with light.

4Sonic Forces
I don’t really know why, but there is just something so funny about a dark Sonic story. Sonic Forces is meant to be an exciting set-up that allows you to create your own unique character, but, instead, the whole thing just feels ridiculous.
Doctor Eggman and his glorious mustache manage to finally beat the blue blur, and the world is in a bleak state. Sonic may be gone, but… oh, he comes back, and then there’s another version of him – the whole plot is just so silly and unnecessary in the best way.

3The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
This might just be one of the most complained about aspects ofTears of the Kingdom, and it directly ties into the story. Thanks to the limitations that come with giving the player near-infinite choice, some aspects of this game’s story were implemented rather… poorly.

The thing I’m referring to is the cutscene at the close of every temple. Hearing basically the same monologue from each character is so deeply funny, and if you add in the fact that you probably played a solid 40 hours before trying to save the day, things only get funnier.
2Persona 3
There’s basically no in-between forPersona 3, eitheryou think this game is a masterpiecethat can do no wrong or you think it’s hilariously edgy and over-the-top. This game’s story goes hard, but everything with the evokers is likely to come across so edgy it’ll have you cringing and chuckling.
Then there’s pretty much everything revolving around the Dark Hour and the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, and you just get something overly serious. The game has plenty of fantastic human moments for sure, but it’s cheesy and there’s nothing wrong with it.

1Mortal Kombat 11
Despite how serious the subject matter ofMortal Kombatis, Mortal Kombat 11 and really the rest of the series are completely ridiculous. This game does everything in its power to take its time-travel plot seriously to mixed results.
When you know the whole thing is clearly just leading to yet another universe reset, the game just becomes a funny mess. Nothing matters throughout the story so you can root for the worst characters. That’s without mentioning all the brutal maiming and broken bones that occur in fights that are immediately shrugged off for cutscenes.
