9Hello Kitty World

The stories surrounding Hello Kitty World have turned this game into a bit of an urban legend. But despite all the theories and myths around it, this was an official Nintendo game launched in 1992 in Japan as a follow-up to Balloon Kid, which itself was the sequel to Balloon Fight. It’s a side-scroll game typical of NES at the time, and the goal is to stay afloat with your balloons.

There is no official NES branding on the game, which has helped to give rise to rumors that it’s some sort of bootleg game. But the score was composed by NES legend Hip Tanaka, and the design and gameplay are authentically Nintendo.
