This unique little gadget is great at revealing those invisible pests whenever they cross its path. Like the other gadgets, it got a rework and it’s now more useful at catching those creeping spectral creatures. To get you up to speed on this useful bit of tech, here’s how to use D.OT.S. in Phasmobia.

What Are D.O.T.S.?

D.O.T.S. stands for “Detector Of The Supernatural” and it’s basically a piece of equipment that projects out aseries of small beamsthat appear on surfaces as small green dots. The beams coming out of the projector itself look a lot like theclassic green Xbox Kinect lasersthat could be seen when you turn the lights off and it functions kind of in the same way, in that they detect movement.

It hasthree upgrade tierswith each new enhancement substantially improving the device byincreasing its range and the spread of its detection beam. However, to get those advanced toys you’ll need to do a bit of grinding as the Tier Two and Tier Three upgrades are locked behindLevel 29 and Level 60. So it will take a while to get them.

How Do D.O.T.S. Work?

The D.O.T.S. Projector is anunderappreciated piece of kit, especially the upgraded versions as they can make pinning down a spook’s favorite haunting spot much easier. Considering how spacious some sites can be, it can be an absolute godsend when you’ve got alot of ground to cover.

The basic details on how this projector works are;when a ghost walks in front of the beam, their entire outline is shown. They won’t always hang around for long as some Ghosts like to just dash past it, but as long as they’re in the beams of the D.O.T.S. device, you’ll be able to see themwithout having to use any other special piece of equipment.

D.O.T.S. Tiers

As we previously mentioned, the D.O.T.S. Projector comes in three tiers. And it costs cash and a level prerequisite before you can hit those higher Tiers. Like all the other bits of Ghost Hunting gear in your van, it’s worth spending some cash and time enhancing this particular piece of kit.

Description

Tier I

Changes To D.O.T.S.

Long-time Veteran Ghost Hunters will have noticed thatthe D.O.T.S. system has had quite the overhaul. For those not aware previously D.O.T.S. was anon-interactive type of evidencethat just spawned in a clone of the resident Ghost. Kind of like aspooky afterimageof where it had just been that would let you confirm where a spook specifically hung out.

Some ghosts loved the D.O.T.S. light and others would get shy. Butappearances would usually only trigger during Huntsor other ghostly interactions. So it wasquite dangerous to try and use it as evidenceas often the second you saw the Ghost under D.O.T.S. it was usually just about to appear behind you andsnap your neck.

Phasmophobia: The Different DOTS Projector Tiers

Now it’s much safer as any Ghost entering the light will undergo a “D.O.T.S. State” where it will have aunique new D.O.T.S. outline and walk around in the roomor go directly towards the nearest Hunter. It was a decision by the developers toencourage people to use this systemas it was going underused.

Also, since the old system basicallyspawned in a static clone of the Ghostit would lead to multiple copies in one spot, which could get confusing.

Best Spots For D.O.T.S.

D.O.T.S. Projector placement is all about three key things;Location, location, location. Finding the prime place to plop down a big beam can be a little tricky, especially ifthe Ghost you got is feeling a little performance anxietyand won’t show up.

First off, for those on a budget and still stuck with the handheld D.O.T.S. Torch, try placing two down in a hallway opposite from each other. This creates essentially atripwire trapthat can reach ten meters in total.

For the Portable Projector using crews using the second Tier Projector, place it on its back in the center of a room. Because the arc is so wide it causes the beam tocover an entire room. Or if used in a wide open space, it becomes aD.O.T.S. AOE.

Finally, for the top Tier Projector teams, it’s worthpairing these devices together. Placed back-to-back, they cancover most large roomswith ease or long corridors such as those found in the Prison. Or try placing themfacing each other on separate levelssuch as in the main room of the Cabins or thegeneral population rooms in the Prison.
