Every weapon inWarhammer 40,000: Darktidehas five Bonus Stats at the bottom of its description. These act as modifiers to the weapon’s base attributes, meaning that every armament you can find in the game will be slightly different. One of these Bonus Stats, Finesse, is particularly important when it appears.
Finesse typically appears on weapons with high attack speeds, like swords and some axes. Understanding how it affects a weapon will help you assess which gear is best for your build and prevent you from spending your hard-earned cash unnecessarily.

What Does Finesse Do?
Finesse modifies two attributes on any weapon for which it is a Bonus Stat. First, itincreases the weapon’s attack speed, usually by the same amount for both light and heavy attacks. This means more opportunities to deal damage in a given engagement!
Finesse alsoacts as a damage multiplierfor critical hits and attacks on an enemy’s weak spot. This is usually the head, but some Elite foes like the Beast of Nurgle have different weaknesses.

How To Check Finesse Bonuses
When you’ve selected a weapon, choose theInspectoption to get a detailed breakdown of all its stats. There, you canhighlight the Finesse Bonus Statto see exactly how that weapon is affected by Finesse.
For example, take a look at the two weapons displayed above. The Catachan Devil’s Claw Swordmore than doubles its powerwhen a heavy attack hits a weak spot; that means you’ll want to go for the head and swing as hard as you can! This particular Devil’s Claw hits with a power of84.15 with light attacksto a weak spot, and343.5 with heavy attacks.
The Achlys Combat Axe, on the other hand, gets a larger attack speed bonusfrom Finesse, but actually suffers adamage penaltywhen hitting weak spots. That’s because the Achlys is primarily an armor-piercing weapon. However, the weapon’s base damage is higher, so after applying Finesse, its weak spot power is158.36for light attacksand169.46for heavy attacks. That makes it much better for just swinging away as fast as you’re able to than the Devil’s Claw, but its heavy attacks aren’t significantly better than its light attacks.
