Having started back in 2007, theAssassin’s Creedseries has become a massive media franchise, spawning not just games but films, comics, and endless merchandise. More games are on the horizon, never seeming to run out of historical tales to tell.
With so many games, they’ve gone through just as many iterations in style, too. From the sorter, more focused early games to the sprawling open-world RPGs of the more recent entries. As such, there’s a pretty wide gap in how long it takes to complete each of them. Let’s check just how long.
Updated April 16th, 2025 by Hilton Webster:Despite slowing down the output over the last few years, it is still a certainty that a new Assassin’s Creed game is always on the horizon. This time, we’ve added in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and spruced up some of the older details for your reading pleasure.
How Long Does It Take To Beat Every Mainline Assassin’s Creed Game?
With almost yearly games since the series' inception back in 2007, there is a plethora of mainline entries to play through. Rather than mention each game one by one, we’ve listed each of them in this handy table, with these average times courtesy ofHowLongToBeat.

A brief note on the RPG entries. These times take into account how long you would need to complete everything once. However, the RPG entries let you make choices that may, in subtle or dramatic ways, change how certain things play out. Sobe prepared to play again if you want to be absolutelyeverything
As you can see, the hours vary quite a bit from game to game, taking their first big jump to 100 percent around Unity, and skyrocketing with Odyssey. Mirage, mercifully, comes in ata runtime much closer to the original Assassin’s Creed.
In total, you would need329.5 hoursto finish all the main games, and911.5 hoursto get everything they have to offer.
If you consider the DLC shown in the table further down, the time to finish all games increases to444.5 hours, and an astronomical1,071.5 hoursto 100% absolutely everything these games have to offer.
Fun fact - that’salmost exactly six weeks of non-stop playjust to finish what are classed as the mainline games
How Long Does It Take To Beat The Assassin’s Creed Spin-offs?
What about when it comes to spin-offs though? The Assassin’s Creed series has slowed down dramatically on single-player spin-offs from its earlier days, instead focusing on gacha games or other free-to-play endeavours. Earlier entries were more experimental and critically, much shorter due to being exclusively handheld entries.

Spin-off entries in the series are pretty stagnant overall, averaging six hours for the main story and around 15 for all extra content. Identity stands as the outlier here within an exceptionally short story, and exceedingly long completion time due to its grindy nature.
How Long Does It Take To Beat Every Assassin’s Creed DLC?
Ah, but we’re not done with just the games themselves. Ubisoft, like many gaming publishers, loves to fill its games with DLC. What you think of those DLCs and the, at times, overly-formulaic approach they take is for you to decide, but they undeniably add quite a bit more length to their sometimes already quite long games. Let’s take a look at them below.
Certain DLCs listed below (The Tyranny Of King Washington, The Legacy Of The First Blade, and The Fate Of Atlantis) werereleased in three episodes each. The hours shown are for the complete DLCs.

We’ve also excluded all of the small pre-order DLCs because they’re almost allsingle quests that take about 30 minutes.
As you’re able to see with the DLC, they tend to follow the same trend as the games themselves. As they get longer, so do their respective DLC. Just by themselves, the DLC would take about 105 hours to see the ending, and an exceedingly higher160 hours to fully complete them. That means just the DLC would take longer to 100 percent complete than any single game by itself.
As such, it’s pretty important to take into account the DLC for the game you’re playing to get a clearer idea of just how long it actually is. A game likeValhalla can jump from an already hefty 144 hours to 197.5 hours with the extra DLC.
