Starfieldis a massive, sprawling game with many intricate systems to learn and explore. From settlements to surveys, it can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you’re asked to do something and the game refuses to tell you exactly how to do so. Sometimes, the instructions are vague and you have to jump through specific hoops to complete your task.

The ship’s inventory and storage area in Starfield

One such task is a very simple one - a request to check on your ship’s inventory. While there are multiple ways to do this, only one will satisfy the requirements put before you by the activity in your quest log.

How To Access Your Ship’s Inventory

You’ll acquire thisactivityquite early on in the game - whether it’s because someone has put items in your inventory required for a quest or the game has simply decided it’s time for you to check on your storage. The problem is thatthere are two ways to interact with your ship’s storageand only one of them will complete the activity.

To complete this activity, you’ll need to actuallyhead to your ship and be inside. Justbehind the pilot’s chairis a console on the wall. This acts like any other container in the game, being filled with everything in your ship’s inventory. Justclicking on this consoleto open it will complete the activity.

You’ll get a small amount of XP for completing this activity.

Using this console is not the best way to interact with your ship’s inventory, however! The best way is touse the ship menu functionality, accessible via the regular character menu.

Here, you can swap items between your character inventory and your ship’s inventory quickly and efficiently, and see more information about what exactly you have stored instead of it being a simple list that’s low on details.
