Sonic Superstars’penultimate Stage is a doozie, offering unique gameplay systems and mechanics, along with a boss encounter that forces you to use those new additions to emerge victorious. Unfortunately, while this is a cool and welcomed change-up, both encounters are somewhat underwhelming for their positioning.

While this won’t be the grueling couple of battles you’d expect from the second-to-last Stage, they still require more from you than most of the encounters, which is all we can really ask for at this point. Nonetheless, if you’ve enjoyed your journey up to this point, these fights will be more than enough to keep you going until you roll credits!

Sonic Superstars: Frozen Base, Act One - Pterodactyl Boss Guide

Ice Bombs

For the Pterodactyl’s first attack, it willtoss three Ice Bombsonto the ground below. Surprisingly, even when encased in ice, theBombs will stick to the surface when landing,so make sure you’reaway from their blast radiusto avoid getting hit here!

Tiny Pterodactyls

Following that, the Pterodactyl willfly in front of youbeforeshooting two Tiny Pterodactyls from its mouth, which will getbehind you before dashing toward you, chasing you downfrom behind. For this attack, justkeep running forward and jump into the Pterodactyl boss to damage itand simultaneously destroy the tiny ones!

Ice Bombs, Part Two

Next, thePterodactyl will toss even more Ice Bombsout. There will befive of them this timearound, all with thesame properties as before. They willstick to the tracks they land on,so be sure toget far enough away from themto avoid taking damage!

Tiny Pterodactyls, Part Two

From there, thePterodactyl will shoot four Tiny Pterodactyls behind you,but that doesn’t change much.Like earlier, continue running forward, jump to the upper track, and use them to jump into the main Pterodactylto deal damage and disband the tiny ones!

Targetting Lightning Orbs

After that, the Pterodactyl will change things up momentarily anddraw three targets around you before unleashing three sizable Lightning Orbsin their place. To evade this attack, position yourself on the bottom tracksandrun steadily between the two bottom targets.

Once it unleashes the Lightning Orbs, you will be between the two on the bottom but far enough away from themnot to take any damage. They will only be up for a brief moment, so you don’t have to maintain this speed for long!

Tiny Pterodactyls, Part Three

Lastly, to close things out, thePterodactyl will launch four more Tiny Pterodactylsbehind you. If you’requick enough, you canjump into the first one and bounce across all four, eliminating them instantly and placing you directly in front of the boss to land the finishing blow. If not, just do as you’ve done the previous two timesto finish the fight!

Sonic Superstars: Frozen Base, Act Two - Spaceship Boss Guide

Boss encounter number two of theFrozen Base Stageis an interesting one, having you assume control of a Spaceship and battle against what can only be described as an enormousSpace Coffee Canand aRobotnik Spaceshipthroughouttwo phasesof action. No matter what you’re up against, the strategies below will get you through the finishing line!

Phase One: Space Coffee Beans

Phase oneof this encounter kicks into gear with you facing off against a toweringSpace Coffee Canthat willlaunch a series of Coffee Beansat you from its mouth thatglows fluorescent green, making them easy to pinpoint and evade.

You must simplymaneuver your Spaceship to avoid touching the Space Coffee Beans, encouraging you toweave in and out of them while continuing your offense, which you can learn more about below!

Phase One: Target The Mouth

Theonly time you’re able to damage this Space Coffee Can is by hitting its opened mouthwith your lasers. Essentially, anytime it opens its mouth to launch more Space Coffee Beans at you is the only time you can damage it, making your movement just as crucial as your shooting.

Furthermore, your lasers cannot overheat or run out of ammo,so we stronglyrecommend just holding the trigger down while moving around.you’re able to land several shots on the Space Coffee Can while dodging its pesky Beans simultaneously, which will eventually destroy it!

Phase Two: Robotnik Spaceship

After disposing of the Space Coffee Can, a new challenger will approach, that being anenormous Spaceship modeled after Robotnik’s face. This ismore or less the same as the Space Coffee Can,with someminor differences, which you’re able to learn about below!

Phase Two: Fireballs

For starters, instead of launching Space Coffee Beans at you from its mouth, the Robotnik Spaceship willfire a volley of Fireballs from the top of its headabove itself, eventually having them dance down the screenon top of you.

So,rather than dodging and evading through things coming directly at you,you will bedodging and evading things raining downon you. While there is a difference, you are more or less doing the same thing as before here!

Phase Two: Target The Green Orbs

As you’reweaving in and out of the Fireballsraining down onto you, remember tokeep that trigger held downto shoot at the large Robotnik Spaceship. Your targets are theeight Green Orbspositioned around the face of the ship thatrotates clockwisearound it.

Metal Orbs that serve as shields for the Green Orbswill also be rotating around the outside of the ship, justkeep firing a straight path toward the middle of the shipto destroy all of the Green Orbs throughaccumulative damage.

There will almost always be aslight gap between the Shield Orbs and Green Orbs,so firing in a straight line will damage at least one of the Green Orbs. Repeat this long enough, and you will eventually pop every last one of them, clearing the Ice Base Stage!
