Pinball Carnival is the fourth Stage inSonic Superstarsand features two boss encounters that are more or less on par with what we’ve dealt with so far during your journey. Like the Acts leading up to these bosses, you can expect to get pinballed around by bouncy orbs, spinning wheels, and even Clowns.

However, with your Chaos Emerald Abilities, you may make quick work of some of the bosses in this Stage, while others will put up more of a fight, forcing you to dig deeper into your bag of tricks to emerge victorious!

Sonic Superstars: Pinball Carnival, Act One - Clown Boss Guide

Capping offAct Oneof thePinball Carnival Stageis theClownboss encounter, which may be frightening to some. However, there’s no need to fear this Clown, as you canmake quick work of it in a matter of minutes. If even that.

Phase One: Flipping Signs

The moment youenter the Clown’s lair, you will seefour white-and-red face signs.Your goal here is tojump into these signsandflip them to a black-and-red colorscheme. You don’t have to worry about accidentally flipping them back to their default state, so just run around the arena and jump into all four of the faces.

Phase One: Upsidedown Clown

After successfully flipping over all four face signs, one of theClown’s spiked bombs will explode in its face, dazing it a bit and causing it to turn upside down. When theClown is positioned upside down, jump into its head to deal damage, causing it to run into the room to the right, causing an area shift.

Phase Two & Three: Avatar Chaos Emerald Ability

Once in the next room, immediately activate your Avatar Chaos Abilityto have your Clones flood the screen and hit the Clown. The Clown will move to another room to the right, but yourClones will remain once you shift to the next area, causing them tohit the Clown againfor the death blow!

Sonic Superstars: Pinball Carnival, Act Two - Robotnik Boss Guide

Act Two’s bossis a bit more involved and complex than the Clown you fought in the first Act, and we’d expect nothing less fromDoctor Robotnik.Still, once you learn the encounter’s ins and outs, you will defeat him in no time!

Phase One: Bomb Wheel Drop

This encounter opens up with Doctor Robotnikmoving one of the two wheels toward the ground with a spiked bombon it, having itrotate toward you before attempting to drop iton you.Run the opposite direction of the wheelto avoid it and the bomb entirely.

Phase One: Avatar Chaos Emerald Ability

After he calls the wheel back up, use yourAvatar Chaos Emerald Abilityand just sit back and enjoy the next few moments, as they willstunlock him into place and deliver three hitsonto him, advancing you pretty far into the encounter as a result!

Phase Two: Ghastly Orbs

Following that, Robotnik will summonsix Ghastly Orbsthat willdance across the bottom of the arena, forcing you to attempt to dodge them. We found thatrunning to the far right corner and jumping back and forth over the bottom right-most Orbis the best way to avoid getting hit.

Phase Two: Bomb Wheel Drop Or Throw

After evading the Ghastly Orbs, Robotnik willcall one of the wheels downonce more, withthree spiked bombsattached to it. This time, however, thewheel will drop them like before or toss them at you,so be prepared for one or the other.

This wheelcan never drop and throw simultaneously,so if you notice it drop the first spiked bomb, it will also drop the remaining two and vice versa. Justjump over the ones that get launched at youandcreate distance when they’re being droppedto resolve this mechanic!

Phase Two: Wheel Launching Attack

Once thewheel runs out of spiked bombs, jump at it to attach yourself to itand begin violently rotating around it.Robotnik will be in the upper cornerat this point, sotime your jump and launch yourself from the wheel toward Robotnik, landing on his headto deal more damage!

Phase Two: Sneaky Wheel Attack

If you’re quick enoughafter landing a hit on him,you canjump back onto the lower-most wheel as he calls them backin, causing you toland a hit on the bottom of his Egg Mobile, allowing you to get a sneaky hit in before he moves onto the final phase!

Phase Three: Two Wheels

It is time for this encounter’s third and final phase, which opens up with Robotnik callingboth wheelsdown. Thebottom-most wheel will have four spiked bombs, with theupper-most one having two.

Thewheel on the bottom will launch the spiked bombs at you, while thetop one will drop themonto you. Thebottom wheel will throw them in groups of two,so you must be prepared to jump far enough to evade them.

To avoid getting hit here, run to the far right corner of the arena, wait for the bombs to drop, then quickly turn around and leap over the ones launchedat you. The timing will be a bit tight, but it is doable!

Phase Three: Wheel-To-Wheel Attack

With both wheels now free,Robotnik will fly high into the top right cornerof the arena to where you cannot see him anymore.Jump onto the bottom-most wheelanduse it to reach the uppermost one.Once on this wheel,Robotnik will come into viewonce more.

From the uppermost wheel, time your jump to launch yourself at Robotnikjust as you previously did todeliver the finishing blowonto him and his Egg Mobile, causing him to fly off yet again!
