As you may have noticed,Sonic Superstarshas an entire laundry list of bosses you must take down to advance to the next Stage in the Story Mode. Some encounters are straightforward and to the point, while others are a bit more complex, forcing you to hone your skills and push beyond your limits to succeed.
The Press Factory Stage is nearing the end of your journey, meaning you can expect the difficulty to ramp up a bit, which is reflected in both boss encounters present in the Stage. This one has no shortcuts, so strap in to learn more about the Monkey and Doctor Robotnik!
Sonic Superstars: Press Factory, Act One - Monkey Boss Guide
Our first boss encounter of thePress Factory Stageis theMonkey,which harnesseselectric powersand the ability to kill you withHydraulic Pressesinstantly. Despite only havingthree phases,this fight will require lots of patience if you want to persevere!
Phase One: Hydraulic Presses
As alluded to above, the Monkey utilizes theHydraulic Pressesof the Press Factory to launch devastating attacks toward you,instantly killing you on contact, no matter how many Rings you havestored.
Upon first entering the arena, theMonkey will attempt to use the Hydraulic Press three times in a row,forcing you to fend for your life right from the jump. Fortunately,the pattern is always the same,meaning you cansimply stand to the left of the Middle Pressto avoid them all!
Phase One: Avatar Chaos Emerald Ability
Once that concludes, we recommend breaking out the ol’Avatar Chaos Emerald Abilityto have yourClones overwhelm and attack the Monkey, canceling its next set of actionsentirely. While this won’t completely cheese the encounter like previous fights, it will get you to the second phase much faster!
Phase Two: Hydraulic Presses
From here, the Monkey willattempt to crush you with Hydraulic Presses twicein a row, so be prepared for them. Thepattern will always be the same,sostand on the far leftof the arena for thefirst round,then move to theleft of the Middle Press for the second wave!
Phase Two: Flipping Electric Monkey
After that, the Monkey will retract the Hydraulic Presses andgrab hold of the horizontal bar above you before electrifying its entire body.From here, it willdrop to the bottom barand beginjumping and flipping through the air,making you think fast and dodge it.
Run to the far left sideof the arena,then to the right when it begins making its way backtoward you.Repeatthis process until its electricity runs out!
Phase Two: Attack!
When theelectricity runs out,theMonkey will slowly pull itself onto the bottom bar,exposing its head briefly. Take this opportunity tojump onto its head to deal damage,forcing it into its third and final phase!
Phase Three: Hydraulic Presses
Kicking off the final phase, theMonkey will attempt to utilize its Hydraulic Pressesagain. Move to theright of the Middle Pressfor thefirst roundof Presses, thenmove to the center for the second waveto avoid them entirely. Remember, if one hits you, you’re instantly dead!
Phase Three: Electric Monkey Orbs
Lastly, theMonkey will grab onto the top poleonce more beforeimbuing itself with electricity.After doing this, it willjump onto the bottom bar,close to the bottom right corner, andbegin launching Lightning Orbsfrom its body in every direction imaginable.
You can attackthe Monkey here; we strongly urge you to do so.Weave through the Orbs and jump onto its head when you see the openingto deliver thefinishing blow!
Sonic Superstars: Press Factory, Act Two - Robotnik Boss Guide
With an immensefive phases, Robotnikisn’t messing around in thePress Factory Stage,making you regret defeating him the past five times in this game alone. While this is a formidable challenge, once you learn how to get around this towering flattening machine, you will have it destroyed and in the scrap pile along with his other contraptions!
Phase One: Slam
The moment theencounter begins, move to the left, plant yourself onto the yellow box, and let Robotnik slam the ground and advance toward you.It may seem terrifying initially, but he cannot hurt you here, so just let him keep slamming his compressor into the ground for now.
Phase One: Attack!
When you seeRobotnik raise his battering ram high above his head and slam itforcefully into the ground, theyellow box you’re on will shoot high into the air,enabling you tojump off it and onto the top of the battering ram.From there, you canleap onto the top of Robotnik’s headto deal substantial damage!
Phase Two: Bullet Chaos Emerald Ability Assault!
From here, it’s time tobully Robotnik with your Bullet Chaos Emblem Ability.After bouncing off his head, use the Bullet Ability tolaunch back up and over him to where you just were.Once here,Robotnik will raise his battering ram,allowing you touse your Bullet Ability to launch straight into his facefor mass damage.
After that, use theBullet Abilitytolaunch up and over him again,placing you on theright side of the screen.WhenRobotnik turns around, his face will be exposedagain, enabling you to use yourBullet Ability once more to launch yourself at himto deal substantial damage!
Phase Three: Lightning Orbs
Next, Robotnik will begin unleashing aseries of Lightning Orbstoward you, using the yellow box on the right as protection, allowing you to focus only on the ones above you. You cansimply crouch behind the box to evade all incoming Orbs!
Phase Three: Jumping Slam
Following that, Robotnik will perform aSuper Jumping Slam,causing him tohang in the air briefly before ultimately crashinginto the ground. When you see him pause in the air,run underneath him and onto the other yellow boxto the left!
Phase Three: Slam
Remain on the yellow boxand haveRobotnik carry out another string of Slamming attackswith his battering ram as he approaches you. Like before,he cannot hit you here,soremain on the boxuntil he performs his Big Slam!
Phase Three: Attack!
After heperforms his final Big Slam,use theheight from the yellow boxbeing launched tojump onto the top of his battering ram,thenjump from there onto the top of his headto deal even more damage to him!
Phase Four: Lightning Wave/Attack!
Immediately following that,Robotnik will begin jumping, creating Lightning Wavesthat travel along the arena’s floor toward you. You canjump over them to avoid taking damage,but more importantly, youcan still damage himduring this phase.
As he begins crunching down before jumping, leap onto his head to deal considerable damage,taking him into his fifth and final phase!
Phase Five: Avatar Chaos Emerald Ability Assault!
Lastly, after delivering a strike during his Lightning Wave phase, it’s time to break out the always-reliableAvatar Chaos Emerald Ability,having yourClones deliver the final blows neededto wrap this thing up!
