One of the available factions you’re able to join inStarfield, the Freestar Rangers, sees you going on new adventures and investigating new stories in Freestar Collective space. Being a Ranger also means you will have to go up against the militia group known as the First.

Throughout the first several missions you go on as a Freestar Ranger, you learn more about the First Calvary that got disbanded during the Colony War. After finishing “On the Run,” you’ll have given Ranger Alex Shadid another encrypted slate. You’ll have the information you need to find the First’s hideout, just as soon as those are decrypted.

Get Debriefed On Your Mission

Once you are backin the Rock in Akila City, you’ll need tosit down to have a conversation with Marshal Daniel Blakeand Ranger Emma Wilcox. Youget feedback on your job as a Rangerso far. Your actions and attitude around the other Rangers were noticed, and reported back to the Marshal.

Ranger Alex Shadideventually comes in to revealhe has decrypted the slatesyou have given him. There are mentions of a place calledthe Factory, which the Marshal informs you isonArcturus II, in the Arcturus System. This is your next destination, and you’ll need tobe ready for a bunch of fighting.

Before you leave, it is a good idea tostock up on healing items, as well asship parts for an upcoming space battle.

Defeat The Patrol Above Arcturus II

Grav jump to Arcturus II, andyou’ll immediately be attacked by the First’s patrol shipsabove the planet. Thepatrol ships attack in pairs, so thankfully you only need to worry aboutbattling two space shipsat a time.

There will bethree rounds of patrol ships, andyou will need to defeat them all before you can land on the planet:

Fight Through The Mech Facility

With the patrol ships defeated,land at the Freestar Mech Facility. As you approach the building from the main road, be careful toavoid several mines buried in the ground.

Once you reach the facility, the First’s leader,Paxton Hull, will speak to you over the speakers and invite you inside. The factory seems abandoned at first, but once you walk in far enough,several members of the First Cavalry pop out to ambush you.

Some ofthe First Cavalry membersare low level, while others can beabove level 30. Hide behind cover, andtake out these enemies so you can continueinto the mech facility.

There areseveral levels you will need to travel throughbefore you finally get to Paxton Hull.

After entering the Assembly area, there will be a room witha Master-level security lock. Inside this room will besome crafting items andcontrabandthat you can sell later.

In each of these areas,there will be numerous enemies you have to fight through. The majority of the First Calvary will bebetween level 20 and 30. Be cautious ofthe MK Turretsin certain areas as well.

Keep your cover, andbe prepared with your healing itemsshould your health drop too low.

Defeat Paxton Hull

Once you get into the main area forthe Command Center, you will have your main task updated here:defeat the First Mercenaries, anddefeat Paxton Hull.

There are some mercenaries scattered around, and you candefeat them one by one using the same tacticsyou would have used through the whole facility.

Defeat the mercenaries first, so you canthen easily focus on Paxton Hull.

You canfind Paxton Hull up in the main command room. He islevel 48, and can deal out some heavy damage with his gun, so be careful totry and avoid his shots.

Once Paxton and his mercenaries are defeated, you will need totalk with him. After praising you for your strength and talking a big game,he’ll finally reveal who hired the First to attack the farmersand steal their land.

Paxton claims thatRon Hope is the mastermind behind all of it, playing you and the Freestar Rangers for fools. You can thenchoose whether you want to arrest Paxtonorkill himright there.

Either way, Paxton refuses to be taken in. You have todefeat Paxton Hull one more time, andhe returns to full healthfor his last stand.

Killing Paxton Hull will be all you need to do tocomplete the “First to Fight, First to Die” quest.You will receivea hefty sum of credits, plus the typicalexperience. Now, it’s up to you to figure out the truth about Ron Hope by continuing the Freestar Rangers quest line in “The Hammer Falls.”
