RELATED:Lies Of P: Stats, ExplainedFor your stay at the Cathedral, we hope you’ve packed your Flamberge and Legion Magazines. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned from all those zombie movies, it’s that these guys hate fire. For this walkthrough of plague and flame, we’re right with you until the very end - and maybe even after.

St. Frangelico’s Cathedral Chapel: How To Open The First Shortcut
From the Chapel Stargazer, take the door to the left of the angel’s statue. In the large room, you’ll see a large creature feasting on something across the way, but it’ll disappear as you get closer.
Ignore the beast andgo right to the organto take theStained Choir Sheet Music.

Go down thepath on the right sideof the hole. There is aVivid Ergo Fragmentacross the room from the ladder on your way.
At the bottom of the ladder, the only thing you may do for now is torun across the muckstraight ahead. It will build your Decay, and two carcasses are hiding within it.

Grab the Cat Duston your way andclimb the ladder.
You can use Flamberge to clear sections of Decay on the ground. If you have the Wave upgrade on Flamberge, it is even more effective.
At the top of the ladder, you’ll be presented with a tight platforming section. Acarcass will ambush you up top, but after it’s defeated, look leftto seeanother one hanging on the ledge.
Throw a Sawtoothed Bladeto knock it down.
Following the path toward the large carcass enemy, there isone more normal carcass hanging on the ledge at the end of the wide boards. It will jump up and attack you.
Bait the ambusher backenough to avoid the gunk carcass’s thrown Decay. When it’s gone, you’re able to fight the gunk carcass.
The gunk carcass is a large enemy that hasthree main attacks:
Like many carcasses, it isweak to fire damage.Use your Flamberge to cause it to catch aflame and make quick work of it.

Up the ladder at the end, roll through the boxes and crates to your left. You’ll fall onto a ledge below.
Turn aroundfirst to grab theRadiant Ergo Fragmentand thendropto grab the item, aHidden Moonstone, ahead. If you didn’t kill the carcass hanging here earlier, it will leap up and attack you.

Jump toward the ladderto reach the above area again. You’ll now have to carefully navigate an even tighter rafter area.
Walking ahead, there’s agunk carcassthat will throw Decay at you as you walk forward. To avoid being pushed off, block this attack while facing the gunk carcass.

Then, dash forwardto the wider area of this rafter area.
Beware the spinning cog on your route. It can push you off the rafters, so timing is everything.
Take out that pesky gunk carcass, and then the normal carcass as you continue on the main path.

Another gunk carcass is ahead, sodash aheaduntil you canuse a support beam on your left as a shieldbetween you and this monster. After it throws a pile of gunk, dash toward it over the rafters to delete its life subscription policy.
Again, beware of the cogbetween you two.
There is aStar Fragmentacross the rafters and in the corner of the room near the cogs - in sight of the gunk carcass you just defeated.
Descend the nearby ladder, and you’ll come to a hall with tracks.Stopbefore you walk onto them.

Anelectric ball will droponto the tracks periodically (roughlyevery five seconds). The timing is very tight. You’ll need todash the moment the ball passes by.
We recommend ensuring your health is topped up before racing up here.
Two regular carcasses are in the room at the top of the hill.Otherwise, proceed into the next room where you’ll see aboarded up dooracross from an angel statue.
One normal carcass is beside it to lure you in. The real danger lurks behind the door.
As you approach, agunk carcass will break down the dooras anothernormal carcass will pop out from behind the crateson the right. Defeat all enemies in here to proceed.
On the path to the next room, check the alcove on the right for aDim Ergo Fragment.
The next room has two large, spinning cogs. To proceed, you mustjump at the right timeto avoid being cast several stories below.
For the first jump, wait until the cog reveals a broken tooth, creating a large opening for your jump.
In the center platform, interact with the fire brazieron the right to push it over the edge. As it hits the ground, it will incinerate any of the Decay in the starting section and open up the first step in clearing the Chapel shortcut.
Jump acrossfrom the central platform toward the iron-barred door.
As you are waiting for the right opening on the second cog (there are no broken teeth this time),look left to see a carcass hanging. Knock it down with a Sawtoothed Blade.
Rather than go through the door,go left and up a ladderto reach aCrescent Moonstone.
If you didn’t knock down the carcass from the central platform, it will attack you on the way.
Back at the iron door, go right now to find aLegion Magazine to the left of the stairson the way down and alever at the end of the path.
When you hit the lever, you will now have ashortcut to this area from the Chapeland easy access to the upcoming miniboss.
How To Find The Cryptic Vessel
The Cryptic Vessel is available as soon as the fire brazier in the cog room is knocked down. In the bottom roomonce filled with Decay, closest to the Chapel Stargazer, there will now be aset of stairs.
Go down these stairs and to adoor at the bottom.
To solve this vessel, pleaserefer to our official guideon it.
Cathedral Chapel: How To Defeat The Shield Carcass Miniboss And Reach The Library Stargazer
The Shield Carcass miniboss is a headache when you’re first acquainted with him. Hedrops from the ceilingas you enter his room through the iron door.
He’svery aggressive, and his large shield makes itnear-impossible to hit him from the front.
However, his defenses are only just that: on the front. To defeat him, you’ll need toget behind him.
Dash forward and dodge roll past himto get to his back end. When you’re there you can deal large amounts of damage without needing to fear much from him.
He does haveone spin attackthat can strike you in this position. It is telegraphed by him pulling back his shield arm (low) and pausing.
After you defeat this enemy, you’ll gain a quartz, access to theVivid Ergo Fragmentup the ladder, and passage through thedoor to the Cathedral Library.
On the path to the library, make sure tocheck the prison cells on the right side. A chest with theKrat Supply Boxwill be accessible.

In the far right corner, grab theVivid Ergo Fragmentbefore goingup the stairson the opposite side of the room.

Continue on the main pathacross a broken stone bridgeto find theArchbishop’s Diaryon a stone altar on the right.
Inside the roompast it, you may find theHoly Bishop’s Mark(return this to Cecile) on the ground and theWorkshop Union Strengthening Frameinside the safe.
Return to thebroken stone bridgeand go through thedoor on the right side. You’ll notice anotherburning brazierthat you canpush over.

We highly recommend using this opportunity to replenish your inventory and health. Return to Hotel Krat now to upgrade your materials.
Behind the gate, you’ll find a path to a large set of doors and a Stardust Pool. Behind the door isthe boss: Fallen Archbishop Andreus.
This boss is yourfirst two-phase bossand by far your hardest challenge thus far.
Tips for defeating this bossinclude:
This fight will likely take several attempts on a first playthrough.
If you run out of Stardust Fragments or Thermite, we recommend leaving this fight entirely tofarm for more.
Stardust Fragments
Best found by defeating the strong enemy in the hall left of the Workshop Union Entrance Stargazer.
Thermite
Best found by defeating the mob guarding the well in Moonlight Town near the Moonlight Town Stargazer.
For a detailed breakdown on the Fallen Archbishop Andreus fight, read our complete guide here.
After Andreus is defeated, you’ll unfortunatelyonly be rewarded with his ergo(to be traded with Alidoro for a special weapon or amulet). No quartz this time.
However, while your path may be clear ahead, the plot grows murkier with questions abound and no truth in sight. But we have faith that, having defeated the Archbishop, you’re ready for the challenges ahead.
