InLords of the Fallen, there are many instances where you desperately need a respite but instead are welcomed by a challenging boss fight. Unpreparedness will catch you off guard, and with low Sanguinarix, any boss encounter will turn into pure chaos.
Another nightmare in Lords of the Fallen awaits while making an attempt to cross the bridge at Fitzroy’s Gorge. The Ruiner boss, with a shield in left hand and a large axe in the right, comes charging into the battle. While the boss may seem slow initially, letting your guard down and becoming reckless will prove fatal here.
Ruiner Boss Attack Patterns
The Ruiner boss appears out of nowhere while attempting to cross thebridgeat Fitzroy’s Gorge. Even though the bridge appears unblocked at the far end, running away from the boss isnot an option here. Therefore, beating the boss is required to move forward from thisprogression blockade.
The best part is that the Ruiner boss has onlyone phase, so taking him down could be easier than most bosses in Lords of the Fallen.
At the outset of the boss fight, the Ruiner boss willchargeand comerunning at you, leaving behind alava trail. This attack is very linear in direction. Therefore, aquick dodgeto either the left or right side will be helpful in not taking any damage.
After that, the boss will open up his attack patterns using thesingle axe sweepsfirst. This will further increasemulti-sweep attacksas the fight progresses.
Depending on the distance, the Ruiner boss will also land two axe attacks that are very predictable and can be parried as well.
If you stay too close to the target, he will occasionally start with akick attackfollowed by alava explosion. The kick does not deal a lot of damage, but the explosion does, increasing thefire statusand effect buildup as well.
Occasionally, as the boss fight advances, the Ruiner boss will summon a totem by spilling lava out of his shield. Once this is done, the boss enters in aggro state, his movement becomes a little more fast, and axe sweep attacks deal more physical and fire damage.
During thisaggro state, the boss will also be seen doingfour swing attacksafterTotemis summoned. Dodging all four requires timing and is not over-the-top difficult.
The Ruiner also uses hisshieldto do anexplosion, dealing direct damage ahead of the boss while theTotemis active. This attack also spews lava on the ground.
Finally, theaggro stage of Ruinerboss is also accompanied by alunge attackthat deals massive fire damage on impact. This also creates awave of firereaching out in a linear direction for a decent range.
To avoid the Ruiner boss’s lunge attack, always press dodge to the left or right side as soon as his axe is about to strike the ground. Dodging too early will get you out of a lunge attack, but the lava wave that comes after it will surely deal a lot of damage.
Additionally, if the Ruiner is not makinglunge attacks, he will alternate attacks and dealtwo axe swingsfollowed by a ground smash that spews lava.
Ruiner Boss Fight Strategy
Knowing all attack patterns is the perfect start in strategizing how to beat Ruiner in Lords of the Fallen. For starters, do not attack from thefront; the bossblocks all melee attacksusing his shield. Therefore, the best strategy to deal with massive damage is to dodge andattack from the back. This can be done when the boss finishes his combo, and you dodge the roll behind his back.
It’s worth noting that patience and precision are key. Rushing into the battle or being too aggressive can lead to unnecessary damage. Take your time, learn the boss’s attack patterns, and seize the right moments to strike.
Secondly, always aim to break the Ruiner’ssummoned Totemas soon as possible. This strategy willdebufftheboss, and he will no longer remain in anaggro statewhere he spams fire-based attacks repeatedly.
Using fire element resistance items will help in dealing massive damage to a plethora of Ruiner’s attacks that do direct fire damage. The impact of damage taken will be reduced significantly with such items.
Ruiner Boss Rewards
Most of Ruiner’s attacks can bedodged easily, leaving the opportunity to deal withtwo or three strikesfrom theback. Rinse and repeat this formula; the boss will go down in a few minutes.
