InDungeons & Dragons, while classes in the Player’s Handbook are fairly specialized, later expansions would create subclasses that double-dipped and allowed you to fill multiple roles. One of these is the divine soul sorcerer.
RELATED:Dungeons & Dragons: How To Build A Wild Magic Sorcerer
This class’s main trait is giving you access to the entire cleric spell list, letting you choose between offense and support as needed. It’s also helpful to boost your other healers if need be.
Divine Soul Sorcerer Class Features
Divine Magic
When you take this origin at first level, you gain access to spells from the cleric list. These spells will count as sorcerer spells for you, meaningyou cast with charisma instead of wisdom.
In addition, you can start with one spell based on the affinity of your divine power. You can later opt to replace this spell, but whatever you replace it with must be from the cleric list.

These spellsdo not count against your number of spells known, but you must still use a spell slot to cast them.
Cure wounds

Inflict wounds
Neutrality
Protection from good and evil
There isn’t really a gameplay benefit for choosing your affinity aside from some aesthetic things, so feel free to pick based on what spell you’d like to start with and change later.

Favored By The Gods
From first level on, when you fail a saving throw or miss with an attack roll, you canadd 2d4 to the roll. You must take a short or long rest to be able to use this feature again.
Unlike features from other classes, you’re allowed to see if you’ve succeeded on this roll before adding the 2d4.

Empowered Healing
At sixth level, once per turn you can spend a sorcery point whenever a creature within five feet of you casts a healing spell, allowing them to reroll the number of hit points the spell heals.
You can do this once per turn.
Otherworldly Wings
At 14th level, you gain the ability to create a pair of spectral wings as a bonus action, giving you a flying speed of 30ft.
These last until you’re incapacitated, die, or dismiss them with another bonus action.

The design of these wings is determined by whatever affinity you chose at first level for your divine magic.
Good or lawful gives you angel wings, evil or chaotic gives you bat wings, and neutrality gives you dragonfly wings. Other than that, there’s no material difference between affinities.

This is helpful because it allows you to attack from above and outside of melee attacking range. It’s especially good if you don’t have a lot of hit points.
Unearthly Recovery
At 18th level, you’re able to recoverup to half your hit point maximumso long as you have half your maximum hit points or fewer.
You can use this feature once per long rest.
Why You Should Play A Divine Soul Sorcerer
This subclass allows youto soft multi class as a cleric, giving you access to the entire cleric spell list without having to multi-class and lose out on certain features or spell slots.
By design, the cleric list has some of the best healing spells and the sorcerer spell list has some of the best attacking spells,so getting complete access to both gives you the best of both worlds.

Features like empowered healing make this agood class to pair with another healer, and prevents you from being redundant by making you a better offensive caster.
What Metamagic Should I Use As A Divine Soul Sorcerer
Sorcerers get access to Metamagic to alter their spells using sorcery points at third level and two options to alter your spells.
For a divine soul sorcerer recommended options to take are:

Since you already have access to the complete sorcerer and cleric spell list, you shouldchoose a cantrip from one of the other lists.

Spell must have an instant cast time and only hit that one creature.
