Unlike the six updates released earlier, No Man’s Sky Echoes heavily emphasizes late-game content. Besides adding two new factions, a new language, and a new store with a brand-new currency, the developers have also introduced new multi-tools, including the enigmatic staff, which looks cool and is a highly desirable piece of equipment.
How To Find A Staff
To build a staff in No Man’s Sky,you must first contactthe Autophage, who can be reached by triggering the “They Who Returned” mission.
The They Who Returned quest line cannot be accessedunlessyou have completed the main quest line (The Purge), the Trace of Metal quest line, and discovered a harmonic camp.
Getting The Staff Parts
After going through all required missions, you canwarp anywhere, triggering the “They Who Returned"mission. Once you are in contact with the Autophage race, you mustwork through their missions to get the parts for your staff.
The Autophagemissions often reward you with Void Motes. This special currency is used tobuy the staff componentsand cosmetic itemsin the Autophage Synthesis Terminal. Theprice of the components can varydepending on the parts that you want to buy.
To find an Autophage Synthesis Terminal, you must have aPolyphonic Core(a multi-tool attachmentreceived by completing Autophage missionsin Echoes). This scanner will allow you todiscover nearby Autophage settlementsirrespective of your current location.
Turn on the Polyphonic Core, andit will lead you to a nearby Autophage camp in the system.
So,there is no fixed amount of Void Motes that you must collectto complete the staff since it will entirely depend on the components you prefer.
You will require three piecesto build your staff completely. These pieces includea Head Component, a Core component, and a piece for its pole (the pole component).
After you have bought all three parts of the staff,you can use the same terminal to build your staff.
How To Build A Staff
To build a staff in No Man’s Sky,you need access to an Autophage Synthesis Terminal. This will allow youto assemble your collected partsinto one multi-tool.
Once youfind a nearby Autophage camp, interact with the terminal andopen the Custom staff assembly.
To be safe,turn off multiplayer in your network settings toavoid being interruptedby someone else during your quest for making a staff.
In the Custom Staff Assembly option, you caninsert the staff parts that you bought earlier into three slots(head, core, and pole). you may alsotry different combinations of the staff partsto build some unique-looking staffs.
Since the staff counts as a multi-tool,you must free one of your multi-tool slots for the constructed staffbefore interacting with the terminal.
You also have an option tocustomize your staff according to your aesthetic tastes. Even if you don’t like the selection of parts in one camp, you can alwaysfind a different camp to explore other options.
While using the purchased parts from the terminal, remember thatthe class of the staff will vary depending on the chosen parts. To construct an S-class staff, you will have totry multiple combinations using different components.
