Starfield’sEchoes Of The Past is the third Crimson Fleet faction quest, where you’ll be tasked by Delgado, the leader of the Crimson Fleet, to meet him on the surface of Suvorov. Delgado believes that this is where Kryx’s Legacy began, and he wants you, along with Mathis, to search for clues in the Lock, a former UC supermax prison, to find Kryx’s long-lost treasure.

Echoes Of The Past is an exciting mission where you’ll be delving into an abandoned prison infested with bug-like aliens and intergalactic pirates. There’s lots to loot in this mission, so make sure to bring a large supply of Digipicks.

Proceed To The Surface Of Suvorov

If you’re starting the Echoes Of The Past quest straight after the Rook Meets King quest, landing on Suvorov will be a breeze since it’s the only planet in theKryx system. However, if you are far away, you may need to plan for multiple Grav Jumps.

LandatThe Lock, and you’ll find Delgado’s Crimson Fleet Phantom III, Delgado, Mathis, and a few Crimson Fleet Rooks.The landing zone is a short walk from the Lock entrance, andDelgado clarifies that your companion will have to wait outside the Lock, so bear that in mind when entering the prison.

On the walk to the Lock, you’ll be swarmed by Gryllobas, a small bug-like creature that can burrow into the ground. The Gryllobas are easy to kill; however, they can be dangerous in a swarm, so stick close to the group.

It’s a good idea to bring equipment with theBeast Hunter trait, like theUC Antixeno Spacesuit,along to the mission as you’ll be encountering swarms of Gryllobas.

Explore The Lock With Delgado

Once you enter the Lock, your companion will be forced to stay outside. The entrance to the prison is eerie, and it does not take long before hell breaks loose. After you walk down the stairs, you’ll be led to a large room, but before Delgado and you may plan your next move,a swarm of Gryllobas will attack you.

To clear the area, we suggest entering the small rooms to funnel the Gryllobas into a choke point.

Once you’ve secured the area, you will be assigned along with Mathis toenter the control room to find a way to gain access to the prison blocks. However, theroof caves in upon entering a corridor,cutting you and Mathis off from Delgado and the group.

Proceed To The Control Room

This is where things get interesting.Mathis reveals that he has a plan to take Kryx’s Legacy information and sell it to the highest bidderand wants you tohelp him betray Delgado. You have a few options in response. you’re able to accept Mathis’s offer, stay loyal to Delgado, or play it safe or neutral until you’re decided.

Mathis will abandon the plan to betray Delgado at the end of the Echoes Of The Past Quest.

Unlocking access to D-Block using the Prisoner Intake Workstation and Mathis overlooking D-Block

After the conversation, you’ll continue to the control room, but not before hearing gunshots and shouting coming from the main room.There’s an audio slate namedPartner’s in Timeon the table in the following roomnext to the Spacesuit Workbench.The slate offers an insight into Jasper Kryx’s prison break.

Once you reach the Control Room, talk to Delgado through the intercomand thenoverride the lockdown via the Transfer Area Control Workstation. Don’t forget to read the messages on the SpaceWare terminal, as it reveals that Jasper Kryx was transferred to D-Block.

D-Block Catwalks and fighting Gryllobas

Proceed To D-Block

With the security lockdown lifted, you’ll open all the doors in the main room and allow Delgado to enter the prison.Your next objective is to enter D-Block.To do this, enter the now unlocked door at the back of the Control Room to reach a small room with aPrisoner Intake Computer. Activate D-Block Auxiliary Powervia the Power Systems Controls to unlock the door to D-Block.

Proceed To D-Block Guard Tower

Now that you have access to D-Block, you’ll need to make your way along the catwalk to theD-Block Guard Tower,where you can unlock the cell block switches in D-Block andfind information on Jasper Kryx’s cell.Be ready for a fight, though, as thisarea is swarming with Gryllobas.

D-Block is a huge area that is split into sections accessed via catwalks. There’s a lot to explore here and lots of loot to pick up, especially if you have a large supply of Digipicks. However, much of the area will belocked until you power up the cell block switches.

you’re able to find theSuspicious Stolen Goods Slatein the cafeteria security guard roomon the catwalk, along withKryx’s Journal Entry 04, in a locker in the shower room.Picking up this skill book permanently reduces the cost of vendor prices and sell value of items by two percent.

Once you reach the Guard Tower, Mathis will yet again attempt to convince you to betray Delgado.

How To Find Jasper Kryx’s Prison Cell

To find Jasper Kryx’s prison cell, you’ll need to use theD-Block Guard Workstation computer, open the Prisoner Records, and search for Jasper’s name. To save you time,open the D-Block Section 03 Prisoner List. This will automatically give you the prison cell location.

Before you exit the computer, click on theLIMS message at the bottom of the desktop to reveal the location of a weapons cachethat security guards had confiscated, as overheard in theSuspicious Stolen Goods Slate, have been stored inCell D-02-106 (section 02).

Maintenance Access Computer and Jasper Kryx’s Escape Tunnel

You can unlock the cell door to get to the weapons cache bypressing the Section 02 switch located by the Suspicious Stolen Goods Slate.

How To Acquire Jasper Kryx Legacy Information

After you looted the weapons cache in Section 02,activate the Section 03 switch to unlock Jasper Kryx’s prison cell.Inside, you will find a few Credit Sticks along with ammo.Interact with the lamp on his desk to reveal the Best Laid Plansaudio, Slate. We learn from the slate that Jasper discovered that theLegacy was in fact, a crashed Galbank starship.

Moreover, Jasper is working with acrooked security guard named Carter, who has dropped off aslate named Carter’s Gigin a locker in the shower roomcontaining thesecurity code for the Maintenance Access Computerin theVentilation room.

The Carter’s Gig Slate can be given to Lt. Jillian Toftas Crimson Fleet evidence for theBurden Of Proof Quest.

Access Kryx’s Escape Tunnel

Once you pick up theCarter’s Gig slate, you may access the Maintenance Access Computer in the ventilation roomand open the security door leading to aLoose Panel where Jasper Kryx dug his escape tunnel.The tunnel will lead to an armory and although the prisoners scavenged the room for weapons, you can find a decent amount of ammo and weapons.

Proceed To The Shuttle Bay

After you’ve taken everything you need, exit the armory and battle your way through the Power Plant room, followed by the Control Room.

you may find theSign Of Things To Come audio slate in the Power Plant Control Roomon the desk by the computer at the back of the room.

Next, enter the Guard Barracks.Be careful, as you’ll be attacked by alarge swarm of Gryllobas in the canteen areaof the Guard Barracks. You can use the tables to avoid their melee attacks.

After you’ve defeated the swarm, take a left to enter theguard bunk room. Here, you’ll find anotheraudio Slate named A Close Callon the desk on the right-hand side of the room.

Enter The Warden’s Office And Contact Delgado

Enter the Warden’s Office at the end of the barracks by walking up the stairs here; you’ll be able toloot a Military Chest and pick up theWarden’s Log Audio Slatefound next to Mathis andopposite the Master locked door. This audio Slate counts asevidence for the Burden of Proof mission.

Report what you found to Delgado on the intercom, and he will open the Shuttle Bay doors, allowing you to fly a shuttle out of the Lock. Delgado explains he will make his own way back to his ship.

Mathis will confront you once again about betraying Delgado; however, this time, he will get cold feet and tell you to forget the plan and not bring it up to Delgado.

Kill The Gryllobas Queen And Escape The Lock

Now it’s time to get off this god-forsaken planet using the shuttle to escape, but not beforekilling the Gryllobas Queen that emerges from the icy ground. The Gryllobas Queen is a strong boss. However, you will gethelp from Mathis, so make sure to heal him if he goes down,especially if playing on Very Hard difficulty.

Heavy Weaponssuch as the 989-Microgunwould be very effective here; we used aLegendary Bridger looted from the Military Chestin theWarden’s Office. Bear in mind thatexplosives will likely damage Mathis, too.

Once you kill the Gryllobas Queen,use the shuttle and fly to the Key.Make sure toloot the credits and items from the cargo hold.

Speak To Delgado

Speak to DelgadoonThe Keyto give himKryx’s audio slateand plan your next move infinding the lost Legacy Galbank starship.Delgadowill give you theKeelhauler, a unique legendary pistol.

Depending on whether you told Delgado that you found information on Jasper Kryx’s Legacy or Mathis found it. Delgado will either keep Mathis part of the Crimson Fleet or kick him out, both having consequences in future missions.

Next, you’ll need tostop off at the Lost Nova and speak to Mathis and Naeva. Don’t forget to pick up theGrunt Issue 04 on the table next to Naeva.This magazine permanently increases ballistic weapons damage by five percent.

To complete the Echoes of the Pastandstart the Breaking The Bank mission,you’ll have toreport back to General Kibwe Ikande on the UC Vigilance.
