Zeki has his own secret, magic-related affairs, but he can’t just ask anyone for help. As his trusted associate, it’s up to you to help him work out the kinks in his new machine. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find the metal he needs, how to find a magical bug or fish, test his machine, and complete the quest.

How To Start Magical Mystery Machine

Magical Mystery Machine is Zeki’s third friendship quest, so you’ll need toreach friendship level threewith him, and also completehis two previous friendship quests,Wares In Low PlacesandSpread The Word.

Zeki acceptsseveral common materials as a liked item, such as any type of ore, Copper Bars, and Iron Bars, as well asany type of fish.

His relationship can be easily raised bygifting him one of these itemsevery day.

Once you hit the requirements, Zeki will have anexclamation point above his head.

Speak to him, and he’ll mention being the villager’s only supplier of less-than-legal magical machines and merchandise, but he asks you to help him find theright type of metalfor it, so it doesn’t end up exploding on someone.

How To Find The Right Metal Bar

For this quest step, you’ll have tobring metal bars to Zekifor him to examine. He isn’t specific about what he wants, and he will agree to examine any metal barexcept for Palium.

Copper Bars, Silver Bars, and Gold Barswill not progress the questand only offer some amusing lore-related dialogue.

How To Obtain Iron Bars

Iron Ore nodes are foundexclusively in Bahari Bayin both thenorthern and southern halves of the area.

Theycan frequently be found along the edges of cliffs, on top of hills and rock formations, in Pavel Mines, and in thesmall unmarked caves east of Tamala’s Houseandslightly southeast of Hideaway Bluffs.

Five Iron Ore makes a single Iron Bar, so you’ll need20 Iron Ore in totalfor the other four bars, and they can be smelt in either aBasic Smelter or a Heavy Smelter.

Once you have the Iron Bars,bring them back to Zeki. He’ll take the Iron Bars, and sayhe’ll reach out to you laterto report how it goes.

How To Find A Magical Bug Or Fish

Afterone day of in-game time, Zeki will send you aletter in the mailand report the success. He’ll say that now he needs a fuel source for it, and ask you to bring him amagical bug or fish.

Bugs and fish that Zekiwill acceptinclude: Paper Lantern Bug, Bahari Glowbug, and the Enchanted Pupfish.

Enchanted Pupfish

Fished up inFisherman’s Lagoonand thecoasts of Kilima Valleyusing aGlow Wormat any time of day.

Obtain whichever one you want from the list, andbring it back to Zeki. He’ll accept the bug, ask you tocome by his house,andhand over a key to his room.

How To Test The Douplifier

Head over to Zeki’s house andenter his room. Speak to Zeki there, and he’ll tell you about his new invention, the douplifier, which turnsone item into two.

Zeki will hand you an Apple Seed andask you to duplicate itin his new machine.Interact with the Douplifieragainst the wall, and it will disappear, giving you a second Apple Seed in return.

If you have yet to receive an Apple Tree Seed, you cantake the seed Zeki gives youandplant it at your plotbefore you test it at the douplifier.

If you do this, you’ll have to eitherrecycle Apples in a Seed Collector,acquire another seed viaNai’o’s level three friendship quest,or try for one fromZeki’s Wondrous Machineto progress.

Speak to Zeki one last time, and he’ll thank you for the assistance, mentioning that he’ll be offering it to Badruu once the prototype is complete.

As a reward, you’ll get an increase in relationship with Zeki, 600 Gold,a star-quality Golden Salmon, 25 Renown, andget to keep the two Apple Tree Seeds.
