You won’t be doing any high-speed races or avoiding dragon fire inDisney Dreamlight Valley, but that doesn’t mean you can’t roleplay it. Vanellope’s carefully crafted several fantasy experiences for you in her friendship quests, inspired by classic RPGs and fantasy stories.

She’s gotten some other Valley residents involved in the game, and they’ve got their own roles to play. This guide will show you how to take up the role of Hero in her quest, complete Fungeons and Dragons, and unlock some unique rewards.
How To Start The Quest
To unlock Fungeons and Dragons, Vanellope needs to be atmaximum friendship, andall her prior friendship quests need to have been completed.
You’ll also need to have completed her introduction quest,A Haunting In Dreamlight Valley, which isgiven by Scrooge, andseveral other characters will need to be unlockedas well:
As soon as you meet the requirements, speak to Vanellope, and she’ll want you tocome over to her house right away, saying something strange is happening, and it’s related to the map you found inher previous quest, Boss Up.
Meet Vanellope at her house, and talk to her again. She’ll tell you to give her a second and to close your eyes. Your screen will fade to black for a moment, then you’ll see aspecial red chestin the room.
Vanellope will inform you that you have one final quest to complete that involves dungeons, princesses in peril, and wearing a costume. You’ll have three backstory choices to pick fromthat influence the outfit you’ll need– farmer, futurist, or noble. Pick which one you want to progress.
How To Obtain A Costume
You’ll have a different quest step requirement depending on your backstory choice, but the solution will be the same. You can go into your Wardrobe from the inventory menu andlook in the requests tab at the top.
Any outfits you own that fit the quest step’s theme will appear here, such as elegant, but it willspecifically need to be a costume.
If you don’t own one, you’re able to go to Scrooge’s shop and ask to order clothing from him. There will be arequests tab in his shopthat will provide you with a few other options for purchase.
Once you’ve chosen and put on a costume,return to Vanellopeand speak with her again.
How To Find The Wizard
For the first part of Vanellope’s given quest, you’ll need to go to"the Rat’s Inn and find a wrinkly Wizard", which is code forChez Remy and Merlin, the Valley’s resident wizard.
Go to Chez Remyandspeak to Merlin. It turns out Vanellope didn’t exactly inform him of the game, andhe’ll direct you to Anna, who turns out to be the intended wizard.
Anna will tell youthat you’ll need to “save the princess and get the keys to the chest where all the fun has been locked away” and that she has the first key, but you’ll need to beat her in a spell-casting duel.
You’ll have a set of dialogue options to choose from, andpicking any of the top one or two choices will progressand prove yourself to her. Anna will hand over the first key, and you’ll need to go back to Vanellope.
How To Find The Second Key
Speak to Vanellope again, and she’ll tell you the second key is “deep in the Mystical Cave and guarded by something chilling”.
Head to theMystic Cave at Dazzling Beach, and go down to the very bottom. Olaf will be waiting for you as the key’s guard. Speak to him, and he’ll give you a series of riddles to solve.Select the first answer for every riddle,and you’ll pass his test.
Olaf will give you the second key, and your quest will direct you back to Vanellope again.
How To Prepare Your Sword, Potions, And A Beastiary
Vanellope will tell you that the final key is “with the Princess, but she’s in the clutches of the Mastermind”, and you’ll have to do some preparation first. You’ll need your Pixel Sword, potions, and aMonster Beastiary from “Arendelle Castle”.
Equip the Pixel Sword back itemfrom the prior quest to complete the first step.
Next, you’ll need to brew three “potions”, akaRaspberry Boba Tea. Vanellope gives you this recipe during Boss Up, and it’s made withone Raspberry, one Sugarcane, and one Milk.
Go to any cooking station and cook the three Raspberry Boba Teas to complete step two.
For the final step, go to Anna andKristoff’s house, wherever you’ve placed it and head inside. You’ll find anorange, sparkling book on the floor in the library. Collect it, and then you’ll need to head to the Mastermind’s lair,Vitalys Mines.
How To Find The Third Key
Go to the Vitalys Mines in Sunlit Plateau, and you’ll find Stitch inside waiting for you, alongside some new cardboard additions blocking off parts of the mines.
He’ll give your pickaxe aspecial, temporary upgradeand then tell you that in order to get the key and rescue the Princess, you’ll have to through a special “Monster Maze”.
Use your pickaxe to break through any cardboard doors or monstersyou find as you go through the mines. Both types of cardboard cutouts have the chance to drop Gold Ore and Candy.
One type of cutoutwith a fire creature on it is not breakablebut can be walked around.
Make your way through the Mines until youfind a special cutout of a dragon.Break it, and you’ll get a shower of Gold Ore and Candy as a reward, then break the doors behind it to reveal the Princess, Buzz Lightyear.
Speak to Buzz Lightyear, and he’ll give you the final key. Break through the last cutouts around the corner, andreturn to the entrance. You can speak Stitch again for some fun dialogue, but it isn’t required to complete the quest.
Exit the mines for a quest update, andmeet Vanellope at her house.
Finishing The Quest
Speak to Vanellope andhand her the keys. She’ll tell you that you can unlock the chest now and hand it back to you. Open your inventory anduse Vanellope’s Adventure Chest.
You’ll receiveone Cardboard Doorway, one Cardboard Dragon, and one of each of the cardboard monstersyou saw in the mines.
Speak to Vanellope again, and she’ll thank you for “saving the kingdom” and give you one final reward:her Sugar Kart. After that, the quest will be complete.
